Vehicle Detail
Great running driving American Classic. Its been my daily driver for a little over a year now. I found it in a barn in Lynden Washington. Had been sitting since 1995. Since I have had it, I have replaced a ton of parts to get it on the road and make it reliable. I would not hesitate to take it on a road trip. The motor is a 196ci straight 6 with low mileage that had been rebuilt 4 years ago. It is .020 over bored with a Weber 32/36. It starts right up and idles great even in the cold. Electric choke works. It runs smooth and quiet. New head gasket and I had the head checked out by a machine shop. It needed decked .015 but was in great shape otherwise. I have rebuilt the fuel/Vacuum pump, replaced the hoses, water pump and put in a NEW aluminum 4 core radiator. Does not burn oil or lose any coolant. Also put on a new exhaust from manifold back last year. had is done in 2.5" pipe with the biggest muffler i could fit under it. I wanted it quiet but able to breath well. I did feel a big difference over the stock size pipe that was on it. The exhaust comes out in the stock location and looks original. The shop did a great job and i do have a receipt. The transmission is a BorgWarner 96OD. It’s a 3 speed manual on the column with an overdrive. Shifts smooth and overdrive works as it should. Makes freeway drives a piece of cake. It will do 75mph all day long with no trouble. I have put new brakes on the car all the way around. Rebuilt the master cylinder. Stops straight and true. Ebrake does not work because it need a new cable Has new tires all the way around. And comes with a nice spare The body Is in good condition for its age, It has a dent in the drivers rear door where it looks like someone turned too close to something. Was there when I bought it. All doors open and close nice and all windows roll up and down. Door locks all function but I do not have the key for the doors. Trunk open and closes just fine but It does not have a lock cylinder in it. The factory black lacquer paint job does still look really nice for a 56 year old car. It does have a rusted out spot on the drivers fender by the door. The rear quarter are solid. And the rest of the car is in great shape. All exterior trim is complete. Some pitting on the hood pieces and the drivers mirror but the rest looks great! The interior is about half way done. I had new front door panels made. And the back seat redone. I do still have the factory reclining front seats. But I put in DeVille seats up front just to drive until I could get the upholstery done. The rear door panels never got done. I do have the originals for templates though. It also has a new carpet kit in the car but I had not got around to fully installing it. The headliner is still in the car but should be replaced also. The car did have new floor pans welded in and are still in great shape. No rust. All the flat glass is good and the back window is also but front windshield should be replaced. Its got some chips and a few cracks in it. Nothing that impairs vision and I have never been pulled over for it but should be done at some point All light and blinkers work. Even license plate lights. Car just had a set of NOS rambler tail lights put on it as well
