acaceca Store SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE CAR PARTS AND ACCESSORIES Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: This is a no reserve auction and the Cadillac will be sold regardless of price, on or off auction. This particular auction is for an authentic original matching numbers true survivor 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 2 door hardtop as shown. Nowadays it is hard for the do it yourselfer to find an original car worthy and inexpensive enough to drive and/or restore. Most of the vintage cars have been given a one week "restoration" hiding many sins and covering up interesting historic indicators of time. Most original survivors have disappeared. A lot of the leftovers are either glossed over "restored" cars or rusty beaters. I prefer cars in their untouched original condition. An untouched original, even if it has problems, gives a fairly accurate assessment of it's overall condition and history and what kind of work needs to be done, if any. I will answer all email questions. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This is not my car, I am selling it for an old friend. He purchased it in 1994 from a gentleman (a reverend - really) who bought it brand new in 1964, so it has had only 2 owners from new. It has been in storage for the past year and was last driven and registered in Georgia in 2013. It has always been garaged and well maintained. Original engine and transmission. Matching numbers. An unrestored original survivor that has had one repaint many years ago. The interior is all original and is still in very good driver quality condition. The odometer shows 91449 miles. I believe it is correct but cannot guarantee it's accuracy. There are 60 detailed photos. As of this writing Hagertys classic car values the 1964 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 2 door hardtop at $8,300 low and $22,700 high for an average of $12,587. The photos are of the worst possible areas - I do not photograph the "good" areas alone, nothing is hidden from view. What you see is what you get. The car is 50 years old and needs a little help. It does start, run and drive. The interior is decent and useable. A driver that can be used as it stands or driven while some restoration or improvements/upgrades are being done at the owners convenience. A straight, attractive car with plenty of eye appeal as viewed from any angle. There is NO TITLE. Sold with an official Georgia State registration and bill of sale. ENGINE: Starts easily and runs well. No smoke, no noises, good oil pressure, runs nice and cool. Engine sounds strong, healthy and responsive. Carburetor has been replaced - choke butterfly is not hooked up but starts easily without it. The small linkage rod is missing. Has an extremely small exhaust leak which may be one of the exhaust flange gaskets, or not - this is a small hard to hear leak (can't hear it with the hood shut) hardly worth mentioning. TRANSMISSION: Original transmission shifts OK. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Nice and solid and straight. No damage, no rust. Radiator is original and was recored a couple of years ago. Water pump also was replaced at that time. Good condition with no leaks and no overheating. Runs very coolThe alternator and starter work well. The battery is good but is way too small for this car and should be replaced. Has dual air horns that work well. A new heater core was installed last week. Engine number is 64J140355. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very solid with no damage or rust as shown. Has spare wheel/tire/jack and extra wheel cover. EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS: This car has a nice clean body. Has some rust in isolated spots as shown in the photos. Some in the lower rear fenders and some around the base of the padded vinyl top and a couple of small bubbles in the right door. The right door also has some rust on the bottom near the seam but the bottom is solid. The left door bottom area is solid. The padded vinyl top is still in very good condition because of the car being garaged all of it's life. The sheet metal panels are all aligned and straight. EXTERIOR BODY PARTS: The bumpers and all of the stainless and chrome trim are original and appear to be in good original straight undamaged driver quality condition. The rear fender skirts are in excellent condition PAINT: It was repainted in the original color many years ago. It is presentable and useable asis. It is good looking from 10 feet for a driver but will need repaint for anything beyond that. The paint on the large flat hood and trunk is dead and checked from the hot sun. If it was wet sanded and buffed out it would look considerably better. GLASS: All of the glass is good. The side windows are power and they all work very well. CHASSIS: The frame is in excellent undamaged and unrotted condition with no rust. The floors are also in excellent undamaged and unrusted condition. INTERIOR/Upholstery: The original carpeting is still good and useable. The seats are also the original leather/vinyl and are in good condition with some minor checking/cracking and a few small seams slightly pulled apart that could use sewing. The seat is power and works very well. The headliner is black and in excellent condition. The drivers door rear view mirror control knob is broken off. The left side kick panel is off but is in the trunk and will need a new backing piece to put it back on. The vent grill is there and is OK. DASH AREA: A very presentable original dash area. Working: Speedometer, all lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, under dash oil pressure gauge (owner doesn't trust idiot lights), dual air horns, heater and heater fan, temperature gauge, original signal seek radio works well including the signal seek function but sometimes hangs up. Just needs lubrication. Not working: Fuel gauge. Reads full all of the time with the ignition key on. Clock. Rear speakers are good but are not wired up to the radio. AIR CONDITIONING: None. Car was ordered new without air. Aftermarket air conditioners can be installed if need be - the new units are excellent, compact and very efficient. TIRES & WHEELS: All tires need to be replaced. They hold air but that's the best I can say for them. EXHAUST: The owner spent $1200 (he got took) to have the exhaust installed 2 years ago and it hasn't had much use so it is still in excellent condition. However he wanted it to have a more throaty V8 sound and the mufflers that were put on are flow through performance mufflers and they are a too loud for my taste - you might like them, I don't. You may want to replace the mufflers. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: All original suspension and braking mechanisms are intact. The car does stop but the brakes are hanging up from sitting so some work will be required to get them to operate properly and return freely. MISCELLANEOUS: Car starts, runs and drives, so no problem with transport or shuttling. PAPERWORK: There is no title. It is registered in Georgia as an antique vehicle. A 2012 official State of Georgia Motor Vehicle Registration and a bill of sale will be supplied to the new owner. Georgia does NOT issue titles for vintage cars. Most States will issue a title upon having the local police inspect the VIN on the car or will issue a title from a Georgia registration. Check your local regulations - they vary greatly. Anyway, most States do not require a title in order to register and license a classic car. FACTORY ID PLATE: The Vehicle identification ID plates are intact and correct. The vehicle serial number is 64J140355 REVIEW: This is a 50 year old luxury car and should be looked at with this in mind. Most everything on the car is 50 years old. It is an attractive classic hardtop that can be driven as it stands or can be used as a driver while upgrading areas on the car or can be rebooted into a fine classic in a relatively short time. INSPECTION OF CAR: As always, it is difficult at best to describe something as complex as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. If you elect not to do this you will have one of three outcomes after purchasing the car. #1. The car will be exactly as you thought it would be from the auction description and photos and you will be happy. #2. The car will be less than you thought it would be and you will be unhappy. #3. The car will be more than you thought it would be and you will be more than happy. And I will be the same in each case. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 15 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my due diligence and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible. SHIPPING: I have shipped many cars to all parts of the world over the years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. The car is in a secure place at my home. You can collect the car at my home. I can assist with loading. The car can stay here for up to 30 days from the close of the auction. PAYMENT & BIDDING: Contact me if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid WILL be cancelled. A $1000 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via priority or overnight mail with a bank cashiers check or cash. Payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. IN ADVANCE, BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Full payment is due BEFORE the car is collected. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the car to see if you like it. If you cannot trust me, my reputation, the description and the extensive photos then it is your responsibility to inspect the car yourself or have a third party inspect it for you. When the auction is over, it is your car and payment is due at the close of the auction per these instructions. In my experience most of the cars sold on ebay are a wholesale bargain. Mine certainly have been. No Paypal for the balance.
