Vehicle Detail

History: Car is originally a 302 J motor car with 4sp. Paint was Acapulco Blue with black standard interior. The car was purchased in 2001 near Pendleton Oregon. It appears to have spent at least several years in Eastern Oregon prior to this. Body: The car had sat below a pine tree for several years before I purchased. The cowl had several pinholes. Drivers side cowl was replaced and the passenger’s side was repaired (holes were welded closed) after the panel was acid dipped. Trunk lid was replaced, as there was rust from condensation. Original turn signal indicator hood was replaced with a standard hood to allow clearance for new engine. Hood now has a Chevy style cowl induction fiberglass scoop added with reinforcing welded in below. Rear valance was replace with a GT unit. All other sheet metal is original although it appears the driver’s side front fender was replaced and some bodywork was done in the mid 70’s. Floor pans are original and in very good condition. The passenger’s side rear frame rail had a crack in it at the hole where the front spring bolt hole is located. This was welded and reinforced. Minor damage from tire chains was repaired at the driver’s side rear fender. Body was prepped and painted by professional body man with extensive vintage car experience. The paint job is at least very good to excellent. Cost for just paint and prep completed about 10 years ago was $7000. There are a couple of sanding marks noticeable if you really look. The color is Porsche Cobalt Blue. The rear bumper is aftermarket. The front bumper while not original is fairly old but is at least as good as an aftermarket unit. Rocker panels trim, tail light trim, and edge moldings have been replaced. Both side mirrors (driver side remote) are aftermarket. Drip rails and door handles are original finish. The grille is a 67 unit for the black out look. Aftermarket driving lights (behind the grille) and fog lights have been added. GT emblems replace the stock emblems. Wheels are Shelby style 10 spoke units with new all season radials. Car has been completely under coated for noise reduction and weather protection. Engine: ’89 Mustang GT 5.0 roller block was hot tanked and honed and the entire engine was professionally rebuilt. An overbore was not necessary. New hyper pistons, bearings and gaskets were installed and the entire assembly was balanced. Cam is a Ford E303 part #. Heads are CNC ported from Power Heads. They are early (’69 I think) 302 units with 1.94 intake and 1.60 exhaust valves. Bronze guides, 3 angle seats, screw in studs and performance springs. Milodon 1.6 to 1 roller rockers below tall chrome finish aluminum valve covers. Intake is a Holly Systemax lower intake with a stock upper. 24 lb/hr Ford fuel injectors are used with a BBK 65mm throttle body and 70mm mass flow sensor. ’89 Ford Mustang GT stock engine control computer. New 190 lb/hr Holley inline fuel pump. K&N cone air filter and billet style fuel filter. Oversized radiator with dual electric fans provides cooling. Remanufactured starter, alternator, water pump and distributor. All smog equipment as been removed. Transmission: ‘89 Mustang world class T-5 5 speed professionally rebuilt. Centerforce dual friction clutch Converted to a hydraulic clutch with JMC conversion kit. New custom-built steel driveline. Vintage Hurst shift lever with white ball shift knob Rear Axel: Ford 9.375” “Traction Lok” differential with 3.25 gears. Unit was completely rebuilt professionally with new clutches, bearings and seals. Custom Dutchman 31 spline axels. Brakes: Wilwood 4 wheel disc brakes with four piston calipers. Front rotors are 11.75” vented and cross-drilled. Rear discs are 12” vented. Stock Ford vacuum booster and master cylinder, both remanufactured. Suspension and Steering: Stock upper and lower A-arms. Upper A-arms have been lowered and a Pro Motorsports negative wedge camber kit installed. Eibach progressive rate springs with 1” front sway bar. DB Engineering rack and pinion steering system with power steering Ford power steering pump was rebuilt and custom hoses have added. Front shocks are KYB units while the back units are stock units with new factory rated aftermarket springs. Ididit tilting steering wheel with Grant leather wrapped steering wheel Custom combination export brace and Monte Carlo bar Exhaust: JBA chrome plated shorty headers with 2.25” dual exhaust and two chamber mufflers. Electronics: Sealed battery is mounted in the trunk Electric Life power windows and electric door locks with remote entry. See note above about window motors. Rostra cruise control Intermittent wipers Full array of Auto Meter Phantom Series gauges (Speedo, Tach, fuel level, fuel pressure, oil pressure, engine temperature, volts) Interior: 90 pounds of sound deadening material added to the inside of the doors, floor, firewall, roof and around the rear quarters. New factory style blue carpet and custom vinyl dash cover New tan headliner and paint. Chrome is replated on extractor vents and rear folding seat trim. ’89 Mustang GT seats with power lumbar and bolsters reupholstered in leather on the seat and back and matching vinyl on all other surfaces.
