2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES - 6 Cylinder - Automatic - 144,291 Miles New York residents please know your restrictions when bidding on this vehicle. Runs and drives excellent. Ice cold AC. Looks good too! Power windows - nice stereo. I drove it over 88 miles to reset the computer monitors. Unfortunately the Check Engine light came back on. The code says "inefficient catalytic converter". It does not affect the running condition and the car drives fine. It was 90 degrees out when I drove it and I had to keep the AC on low or icicles would have formed in the car. Since the Check Engine light comes on, it will not pass NY State inspection. If the vehicle sits and idles for 5 or more minutes you will get a very, very slight puff of blue smoke as you drive off. After that - nothing. It is this condition that probably caused the catalytic converter to be inefficient. If you run some cat cleaner through the system the cat will probably become efficient again. I don't have time to keep driving it to reset the computer monitors. Drive it home! This car is going to the highest bidder! No Reserve! No Buy It Now! It could use 2 tires and a couple of hub caps. New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will easily pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy.
