Vehicle Detail
1980 Oldsmobile Toronado XSC coupe. This is a FWD v8 car. It has an automatic transmission, a 307ci engine, and 87,789 miles. It was restored years ago and repainted. The front end was customized to fit a nice, big, Cadillac grille that looks great! The engine runs good and the car drives good. The transmission shifts well. No known major leaks or mechanical issues. Since the restore, the car has now developed some rust in 4 main areas. On the exterior bottom portion of the doors the rust has started under the paint and the paint is breaking off. I do not believe the panels need replaced if you have a decent amount of skill with body work. But they is an opinion. The front pillars have bad rust at the bottom section you can see in the pics. I would repair with screen and bondo for a quick fix but metal would be best. Both of these issues are on both sides of the car. As you can also see the bumper inserts are missing. The floors and trunk is very solid. The whole car is very solid excluding the rust issues I just mentioned. The vinyl top has come unglued and needs replaced or removed. There is solid metal under it so simply remove the glue and repaint. I was going to do that and paint the whole roof a different color… maybe white or off white? Black? The interior is now cracked all up from sun… the car sat some time. Seat covers would be a life saver. It’s a really cool old car… but is no show car by any means. All the glass is good, the power windows work. The power antenna works as does the stereo. The hood requires 2 people to open as one person has to hold the release lever and the other wiggles the hood. The tires have a lot of tread but are older. The right front brake caliper sticks sometimes and needs replaced or rebuilt. No check engine lights or trouble lights are on. The exhaust may have a leak somewhere as it has a little hum to the sound but it is not all loud like it has a large hole. This is a 2 owner car. It was cared for well for a long time and then was left to sit. If there are any questions. Call or text me at 304-283-5817 Local pick up only.
