Vehicle Detail
Untitled Document This no reserve auction is for a beautiful 1978 Cadillac Biarritz with 91,000 original miles which we recently acquired from an estate. It’s a three owner car and had been in storage for about four years until the family decided to sell it to us. The Biarritz is all original and complete right down to the compact spare tire with its inflation canister. It’s triple colonial yellow, and is equipped with: • A 425 carbureted V8 engine • Automatic transmission Four wheel disc brakes • Four wheel disc brakes • Electronic level control • Automatic climate control • Telescopic / tilt steering • Power windows & door locks • Dual door mirrors with left hand remote & thermometer • Cruise control • Six way power seats with passenger recliner • Delayed wipers • AM-FM eight track stereo radio • Power antenna with up, down & off switch • Rear window defogger • Sentinel auto dimming headlights • Remote trunk release with power pull down • Fiber optic lamp monitors We received a lot of paper work with the car also, including the original 1978 Cadillac warranty information, 1978 Cadillac consumer information, 1978 Cadillac maintenance schedule & Cadillac value protection plan. Included in the package are many GM service receipts & two state vehicle inspection reports which document the Biarritz’s mileage & shows the genealogy of the previous owners. There’s even an undated independent appraisal report that was performed at 69,651 miles (see photo). The title has been signed by the previous owner during his illness. We can provide this to you, or we can transfer the title into our name first…the choice is up to you. What We Know About The Car: After the Biarritz had been setting for a couple of years, one of the family members bought a new battery & fuel filter and would run the engine periodically for the next two years. So it runs & drives, but has a misfire that’s probably fuel related, as the fuel hoses are deteriorated and a small fuel leak can be seen at the rear of the vehicle whenever it’s started. Amazingly, everything still works on the car except the air conditioning. We were attracted to the car mainly because it looks like something out of a time capsule, especially the dash, door panels & leather interior which is incredibly supple, with absolutely no rips or tears…everything inside the car is just downright nice! The distinctive body has only one very small ding in the right rear quarter panel and the overall appearance of the original paint still looks great. In fact the car gets compliments from everyone who sees it, and even more from those who sit in it; “Man, I can’t believe how comfortable the seats are!” But the finish does have a few flaws, as there are a couple of rust spots at the bottom edge of the vinyl top (see photos), and the left rear quarter panel has an area of “pock marks” in the paint that looks like someone threw a few handfuls of small gravel at it…but not enough to dent the metal (see photos). The remainder of the paint has only small normal random chips. The vinyl top looks good, but has a 5” horizontal cut just below the left side quarter window that appears to be repairable (see photo). Looking down the sides of the car, all the body panels are absolutely smooth & super straight (see photos). The chrome bumpers and stainless trim pieces are outstanding in every respect, and overall the car is free of rust. The only minor body piece that needs replacing is the plastic gas tank fill cover at the center of the rear bumper, as the old one is cracked. Because it was sitting so long the engine compartment could use some cleaning and it needs a muffler as well. The tires still have plenty of tread left, but should be professionally checked for road worthiness. We’ve done our best to accurately describe the Cadillac, and quite frankly we’re amazed that such a survivor car still exists after 36 years. It needs a little TLC to get it back to its former glory, but it would be well worth the effort. So we’re looking for someone who would appreciate owning this truly luxurious car by putting it up on a no reserve auction…meaning that the high bidder will be taking possession of it! The high bidder is responsible to arrange for transportation of this car. We will be glad to coordinate with your shipper. Thanks!
