Vehicle Detail

Last registered in 1977. San Francisco Bay Area car from new as far as I can tell. San Jose-built 289 C code factory 4 speed. Engine will not turn over by hand, brakes inoperative, etc due to long term storage. The elderly gentleman who previously owned the car was a Mustang and old Ford collector who held the collection for decades. The left front fender and left door look like they were replaced and the car repainted red from original light yellow many moons ago. The only accident damage is to the front and rear and is fairly light as shown. I did not remove the carpets for inspection, but there is probably some rust in the floor beneath them in some places. There is light to moderate surface rust on the underside of the floors and chassis. The floors, seams, etc. underneath, in the trunk, under the hood, door jambs, wheel wells, etc. actually look quite good and do not appear to have any heavily rusted or rusted-through areas. I crawled under the entire car and found no rusted-through areas, but there may be some that I have not found. This Mustang is a very good candidate for a straight-forward no scary stuff restoration. It is feasible to be driving this car in time for 50 year birthday. The Mustang parts aftermarket can supply anything needed or desired. Used parts are readily available and very reasonably priced. These early Mustangs are simple and fun. The trunk is loaded with spare parts including an extra pair of complete 289 heads that were apparently rebuilt but never used. They are now covered with surface rust and need to be cleaned up. The front bumper and brackets are missing. Windscreen is cracked but side windows are all good. Some chrome is pretty good, some, like the rear bumper, not good. Car is very much intact. The car has a clear California title in my name. I bought this Mustang to restore and drive, but realized that other projects (a few years worth) must first be completed. The odometer may not show the actual total mileage. Buyer or buyer's representative is encouraged to inspect the car prior to bidding. Located 3 miles from Interstate 80. If more photos or information are needed, please contact me.
