Lets run down the check list real quick..... Fastback.... "check", No window post..."check", V8....."check", Bucket seats..."check", Console...."check", Black interior...."check". The checklist sounds a lot like a formula for the most popular classic muscle cars available today. The fastback Marlin was one of the cars responsible for the "fastback muscle" car movement. Originally built and labeled as a "personal luxury car" in 1965, the Marlin was sadly only produced for TWO years. With the styling and lines that rivaled the mustang or the charger, the Marlin was right on track with all other auto makers. This is a solid, well preserved, car. It has a lot of things going for it. The car is original sheet metal and not rusted out. There appears to be little to no body filler. The car boasts its ORIGINAL interior. The black bucket seats show excessive wear in some spots, but could certainly be salvaged. All window glass is good. The dash is solid and useable. The lights and gauges appear to be working correctly. This Marlin is powered by a correct 287 cubic inch engine and Flash-O-Matic (auto) transmission on the floor. The car seems to be mechanically sound. The odometer shows 53,002 miles and is believed to be original. Also included is the ORIGINAL window sticker, owners manual, and owners glove box envelope. As for the bad items on the car..... the car needs paint. It is certainly a twenty foot car. It isnt rusted out anywhere. It could use a paint job. Fortunately the car is the original color and very solid. This could save someone lots of time and energy. As stated before, the interior is decent, but shows wear on the drivers seat. This car would make a great cruiser or light project for someone just getting into the hobby. After all... a rolling fastback mustang or charger with no engine, trans, or interior would cost more than this car.
