Vehicle Detail
This is a very rare 1967 Bentley T-Type, the sister car to the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, although only 1/10 the numbers built, making it an extremely rare car. Just 1,700 T-Types were built and very few were left-hand drive (for the North American market). This is the scarce first-year of importation when it still had chrome bumpers, fold-down picnic tables in the seatbacks and was devoid of bulky headrests, center console and other DOT-mandated "safety features" that came in 1968. The 1967 model is by far the most collectible and rare. Fully loaded with electric windows (all operate), air conditioning (cold!), full power, sumptuous Connolly leather interior, mouton wool carpet overlays, acres of polished walnut trim, and even an 8-track player to accompany its original AM/FM radio! The T-Type Bentley is a link between the antique era and the modern era from the Crewe cars, and is a highly usable classic. It's not as bulky, ungainly and ostentatious as the Silver Cloud/S-Type saloons, yet still conveys a classic style unequaled by the range of Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars that followed. It's a car you can drive every day if you wish. A recent trip from Los Angeles to Palm Springs and back was serene and trouble-free, without any overheating, as it wafted along the mountain passes and desert highways at 85 mph. Engine runs great, trans shifts smoothly, brakes are straight and true. Waving hands and thumbs-up from fellow motorists convey appreciation of its stately presence on the road. Runs great, effortless steering, very smooth ride. Beautiful Sand over Sable two-tone livery (re-paint). New Bridgestone whitewall radials. Hydro-pneumatic suspension/brake system in great shape. Original parchment hides supple and comfortable, although showing some cracking in a couple places (see closeup pics). The polished burl walnut is in overall good condition but has a couple areas of clearcoat chipping (see pic). Rubber seal at driver's windwing requires replacing. The lights and gauges all work. The passenger window is slow up and down but does operate. Electric seats operate but switches should be cleaned as they sometimes require repeated operation. Only 51,235 miles (82,456 kilometers)! The Bentley was purchased as a US-spec car and collected in England by the original owner and the speedometer is in kph and mph as well, and the odometer readout is in kilometers. It has lived a cared-for, garaged life in Northern California and is rust-free. Full service history and receipts. In the last 3,000 miles, the car had a valve job, brake rebuild and new shock absorbers, in addition to many other smaller items as needed. Includes rare Owner's Handbook and toolkit! Clear California title. Personalized plate not included. I've owned a '67 T-Type 20 years ago and waited all this time to find another to come on the market. They are magnificent automobiles. I recently acquired a long-time dream car (E-Type Jag roadster) and now must let the Bentley go to make room and replenish my bank account. Wish I could keep both! I've described the car to the best of my knowledge, and pointed out known flaws. Being a 47-year old car, there will invariably be maintenance and repairs in the future. Feel free to ask questions, other than what my reserve is. It's easy to find out by bidding! Buy it Now gets you a wonderful car at a great deal (it's insured for $35K), and an investment that will only go up in value and that you can enjoy every day. Good luck! ~ Dave See more photos below!
