"You meet the nicest people on a Honda." This is being relisted due to previous high bidder unable to pay. Please do not bid if you do not have the money to follow thru. Up for auction an extremely nice 1973 Honda CL 350 Scrambler, blast from the past! All original survivor, well maintained, just out of storage. I purchased this from a woman in New York City, it was her bike. A year or two prior to storage she had the top end rebuilt, new chain and sprockets, gas tank relined, and carbs rebuilt. Stored since 2009. I installed a new battery, flushed the gas tank, cleaned the carb's, new plugs and points, and she starts one kick. Tires are also new. As I am a collector myself, and buy and sell many bikes, I want to represent this machine as accurately as possible. Check my EBay rating. First let me describe what is not perfect: Some of the chrome is lightly pitted, but well above average for a 40 year old motorcycle. The headlight ring and one blinker have the slightest of scrapes, Headlight housing has a crack, original air box is removed and filters were replaced with K&N filters. The tach and speedo faces have cracks, (the decals, not the glass). I do not have the original airbox, toolkit, or owner's manual, the electric starter hangs up occasionally, but seems to be getting better with use. Now the good: For it's age the paint is original and excellent. Some minor chips have been touched up, bit the overall condition is great, smooth and shiny. The seat cover, hand grips, exhaust are original, as is everything else but the clutch lever, battery, brakes, tires and air filter. As I mentioned, overall the chrome is nice (Rims, fenders, exhaust, etc.) with some light pitting. The exhaust is all intact, no holes, cracks, or repairs. Tires are new, all lights, blinkers, etc. work, shifts nicely, usually starts one kick, or one press of the button. Have both original keys, fresh tune up and oil change. I sanded and painted the frame and engine, and meticulously detailed the entire bike, I have the title signed and all necessary legal paperwork from the original owner and the state of NY ready for transfer. This is a really cool example of a popular motorcycle icon from the early70's. A major player in the motorcycle revolution of the time, the epitomy of the slogan "You meet the nicest people on a Honda". If it was a different model I would keep it. The CL is not my favorite, cool as it is. I need to sell to fund another restoration I have going. The reserve is reasonable. It is 40 years old, so of course there is no warranty. I have described it as accurately as possible. If you're planning a 1000 mile trip with it, I would probably have a competent shop or mechanic go over the bike. It starts right up, runs well, but it is fresh from a long storage and I have only ridden it 3-4 miles. This is not a museum piece or a national show winner, but an extremely nice driver, well above average condition. It could win you a trophy at the local show, tho. An outstanding original candidate for a full blown restoration if that's what you have in mind. I will not ship, but will reasonably assist the shipper you choose, and can store for a while if necessary. Please ask any questions, look at the pictures closely.
