Vehicle Detail
This is a 1970 MGB Roadster with chrome bumpers. It is super clean with tons of new stuff on it, and is the only year of the “split” rear bumper. The original jack and lug wrench with original case are in the trunk. It runs and drives very well. This car is a true RED original factory color. Some pictures appear as an orange-ish color, but that is not the true color. In person, the car is stunning. It is hard to capture how nice this car is with my photographic capability. There is NO RESERVE on this car, and someone will get a VERY NICE MGB. I have owned this car since 1975. The car has been garaged for most of its life. It was driven mainly during summer months and stored during the winter. Everything works – all lights & markers, blinkers, windshield wipers, heater fan and Horn! No cracks or chips in any glass. This car gets attention and shows well wherever it goes. My deposit refund policy (described below) indicates my confidence that you will not be disappointed with your purchase. Odometer reads 10,659 miles but the actual mileage is 110,659. This may increase slightly by sale date as I drive the car occasionally. The engine overhaul was done at 109,517 miles. Original full tonneau cover and small top boot cover and support frame in good condition. A full fabric cover (universal - not fitted) and carrying case is included with the car. The car starts right up, runs easily, and idles smoothly. No engine smoke, and virtually no oil consumption. The car also shifts well with its standard 4-speed short throw gearbox. Brakes work well. Electric system is fine with no known issues. Exhaust system is in very good condition. Cooling system is like new - car operates for sustained periods of time in normal temperature range in the Oklahoma heat. A good amount of paperwork is included with the car, including the original MGB owner’s manual (poor condition), a factory shop manual, and a couple after market shop manuals. Tools for synchronizing the carburetors are included, and receipts for all parts purchased and work performed. Here are some of the highlights: Brand new fuel tank sending unit, but the gauge doesn’t quite indicate full when the tank is full. The bottom half of the gauge is accurate. A few paint chips have been touched up, and there is a small crack in the top center of the instrument panel. Some wear is evident on the chrome plated plastic frames that surround some switches on the instrument panel. ENGINE REBUILT ABOUT 8 YEARS AGO, runs great, tons of power and great oil pressure. It has about 1000 miles on the rebuilt engine. Engine rebuild included the following: Carburetors professionally rebuilt; New camshaft, lifters, timing chain, chain tensioner, and Crane pushrods; New main bearings, cam bearings, rod bearings, intake valves, stellite exhaust valves, rocker shaft, valve guides, valve stem seals, pistons & rings (.030” oversize) and a complete gasket set. The cylinder head was resurfaced and new valve seats installed to accommodate unleaded gas. New spark plugs, ignition wires, rotor, points and condenser. Engine compartment/transmission tunnel cleaned & repainted. Exhaust manifold is ceramic coated gray. New engine mounts, stainless oil cooler hoses, all new engine compartment decals New radiator hoses (Kevlar), heater hoses and heater control valve Water pump rebuilt. New K&N air filters. All suspension components and rear axle assembly sand blasted, primed & repainted New driveshaft U-joints New Neoprene suspension bushings New front coil springs and rear leaf springs. New turn signal/horn/dimmer switch installed New convex right hand mirror New radio console cover and radio blanking plate. New single 12 volt battery – not 2 - 6 volt batteries New braided stainless steel oil cooler hoses New clutch, pressure plate & release bearing New clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and stainless steel line and flex hose New front brake pads and rear brake shoes; New brake master cylinder & rear brake cylinders; Front brake calipers rebuilt – new pistons installed.
