Vehicle Detail
This is a unique antique which is ready for a restoration. It has the basics for this model year along with good bones. It has not been driven so much in the past 20 years, but in storage. It's getting too expensive to store this nice truck and someone needs to drive it. The truck came to me in a deal where money was owed, but I took the truck instead. That kind of thing. I was prepared to restore it, but then my work situation changed and my new job leaves me no time. It has a straight six, with a four speed stick. The engine is sound, but I don't know the history on when if ever it was rebuilt. It has good compression ans shifts well without any grinding or clutch issues. The odometer reads 20,000 so I assume it has turned over. The lights work, choke cable and hand brake cable need work. Haven't checked the drums for brake shoe wear but stopping is not an issue. I just bled all the brake lines and have a decent pedal, but it takes a bit of pumping to get a reliable pedal, so I suspect a power bleed would help. I used my vacuum bleeder from Harbor Freight and it made a huge improvement. I placed a large piece of cardboard under the engine while in storage and it shows very little if any oil leakage. A few other issues which the next owner may deal with are the air cleaner housing is missing the correct lid. It came with a suitable temp, but a truck this nice deserves a real replacement. The windshield needs a new rubber gasket and the dashboard material is sun toasted. There are some small areas of surface rust that need to be tended to. I have shown the areas with close up pics. Nothing structural, but in the sheet metal. There's some rust showing up in the integrated hatch toolbox where jumper cables are stowed. Most noticeable is the left side interior running board/floor rust, but again nothing too serious since this F-100 is from the dessert where it never rains, and salt on the roads is out of the question. The body has been repainted at some time in it's life. Some areas of filler can be seen. Photos of the undercarriage show the Twin I Beam chassis, the rear of the body panels with no body work history. That's good news! The doors and tailgate work well, windows operate. Truck comes with good tires. My truck needs a good cleaning and will be a daily driver or a fun restoration project. Please feel free to ask any questions and when I get off work I'll get right back to you. You will need to arrange shipping from Santa Fe New Mexico. I will help as much as I can getting it loaded up for you! Thanks. On May-22-14 at 16:26:43 PDT, seller added the following information: **** I measured the wheelbase today and found that it is 115" from center of wheel to center of wheel. As it appears now that this is a short bed truck. The bed is just over 6' in length. Sorry for any inconvenience this may pose to bidders. My bad!
