............. 1983 Goldwing GL1100i Interstate, Bulletproof Dependability, Updates...... Up for auction is my recently acquired Wing, Strong running classic with all the 83 model year updates and upgrades, plus recent new parts. I bought the bike with plans of cross country trip this summer, however, crap happens, things change, and now shes got to go. Bummer at this end. All the maintenance and new parts needed for a ride like this have been done. Fly in, Ride home.All fuel lines and filter changed as well as brake work. New pads all around, rear master cylinder rebuilt. New touring tires with less than 200 miles. The 83 model year had many updates and upgrades over the previous years that really improved performance and safety. Up graded wheel package. Went from 5 spoke com-star riveted wheels, to solid cast aluminum eleven spoke. Maintenance free and solid. TRAC fork system, adjustable anti-dive front forks. Air suspension. Integrated braking. Linked rear to right front disc for 75/25% for quicker, safer stops from high speed. Other than the over all condition of bike, these are the reasons I chose the 83 Interstate. I've also owned a 77, 82, another 83, Aspencade and a 93 (dog). This bike is by fart, the easiest and best rider of the bunch. Over All, the condition of the bike is very good for the year, fast starts, runs strong and everything works. NO Smoke or over heating. New temp sensor. (sound system could use an update, sketchy cassette). Touring Seat really comfortable and good shape, see pics. The Fugly, This is a 2 owner bike, and I'm not sure which owner did it, but, parked it such a way that there is sun fading on both case lids and trunk top. Some scratches around and cracks on trunk and side case tops. Easily repaired with fiberglass kit or glue, bondo? idk. Condition of those items doesn't bother me, I knew I couldn't find a new 83 any how. If you're looking for a great running and dependable bike, this is it. A few cosmetic nicks here and their and no worries. You'll not find a better bike in this price range, I could not. Located in Maryville TN. about 15 mins south of Knoxville's McGee Tyson airport.
