“VIEW MORE INFO” at ericjdesrosiers.com 1985 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet with custom Gemballa body work. This one of a kind show piece classic style Porsche 911 style won one first place at the Hershey Porsche swap meet. This is the world’s largest Porsche swap with thousands of Porsche enthusiasts attending every April. This beautiful example of a 911 with custom Gemballa body work won first place among hundreds of Porsches’ that entered for the same category, “Best Appearance”. The car was purchased from The Toy Store in Ft. Lauderdale by Roy Collins in 1994. Roy paid $42,500.00 for the Porsche with the custom Gemballa body work fully installed as it is today. It is important that you know when you update, customize, or alter any vehicle including a Porsche to upgrade its appearance as was done here, you automatically change its title to a rebuilt or in some states, reconstructed title. This car was simply taken apart to install this upgrade package and has never been wrecked. I saw the Porsche while searching the web in 1998 looking for a Porsche that was a head turner, which is definitely what I found here. Every time I take this car out I get thumbs up from many. I saw it, asked a few questions and jumped on a plane and flew to Deerfield Beach, Florida, and purchased it the next day from Roy for $38,500. The day I purchased it, it had 73,000 miles on it. Today it has 81,130 miles on it all pampered. That is 8,100 miles since I purchased it fifteen years ago. I drove it all the way back to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania the following day. I owned a yellow 1997 yellow Lamborghini Diablo VT, which also was an eye catcher but cost a ton to maintain and a lot more to purchase. This Porsche has a non-turbo with upgraded stainless steel exhaust system, drives great, turns on a dime and is very inexpensive to maintain. This turns just as many heads as my Lamborghini did without such an entrance price, hundreds thousands of dollars less than most exotic cars that turn so many heads. I mean it just looks and drives incredible, what can I say I absolutely adore this car and will probably try to buy it back from the high bidder someday. Unlike Roy who decided to sell because as you will read in his ad, had just married, I unfortunately am just finishing a divorce. And this car unfortunately must be liquidated within the next seven days. It has since been brought back to Florida about a week ago and is in the Boca Raton Area turning heads whenever it comes out for a cruise. This car will sell in seven days although it is not an absolute bid situation, all bids and offers will be very seriously considered. I have scanned and taken many photos of the car. I have also included info Roy provided me with when he originally purchased it. This info includes his invoice from the Toy Store in Ft. Lauderdale which was in the process of being purchased and renamed then to what is currently called the Ft. Lauderdale Collection and sells the world’s finest exotic cars including Porsches, Ferraris, Bugatti, Rolls Royce, Bentleys, Lamborghinis, etc. A brief description that Roy had in his auto locator ad in 1998 is as follows: “1985 PORSCHE 911, wide body, white/blue, custom dash, leather int., power Recaro seats, fully loaded, very low mileage, absolutely immaculate, just married, must sell. Call Roy daytime (954) 489 2122. After (954) 480 8731. FK-10125-M1Av-“ My cell is 717-979-9133. Feel free to call me anytime with questions you may have. I will be happy to ship this car anywhere in the U.S at the buyer’s expense of course. I also reserve the right to stop this auction at any time if the car sells locally here in Boca Raton, Florida. There are a few items that will need attention, which are all minor: A rear tail light is out - $50.00The plastic rear window on the convertible top needs replaced - $300.00The four vinyl buttons on the convertible top need replaced and its under liner - $300.00It could probably use a tune up about now and a valve adjustment. Lately it has been getting a little finicky starting once in a while. - $500.00 to $750.00 I disconnected the power Recaro seats some time ago to prevent the battery from going dead all the time and never hooked them back up. I am not sure if they even work, as they were never used for that feature. Happy bidding! On May-15-14 at 13:07:39 PDT, seller added the following information: "IMPORTANT PLEASE READ COMPLETELY BEFORE BIDDING" PLEASE IF YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS DO NOT BID. I HAVE JUST LOWERED THE RESERVE BECAUSE THIS CAR NEEDS TO SELL DURING THIS AUCTION. THE RESERVE HAS NOW BEEN MET AT 13,000. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM WITH OR DO NOT UNDERSTAND A REBUILT TITLE PLEASE DO NOT BID. THIS HAS BEEN MY PERSONAL ENJOYMENT CAR FOR OVER 15 YEARS NOW NOW AND HAS NOT GIVEN ME ONE PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE WORD REBUILT ON THE TITLE. I REALLY HATE TO SEE IT GO ESPECIALLY AT THOUSANDS LESS THAN I PAID FOR IT BECAUSE OF SOME STUPID WORD ON THE TITLE. I PAID 38,500 FOR IT 15 YEARS AGO AND I FEEL IT IS STILL WORTH EVERY PENNY OF THAT TODAY REGARDLESS OF SOME WORD ON THE TITLE. THIS WORD REBUILT HAS NEVER EFFECTED IT PERFORMANCE OR MAINTENANCE NOT ONE TIME EVER. AS FAR AS IT GETTING ANYWHERE AS IT STATES IN THE BID, YOU WILL NEED TO HIRE A TRANSPORTER OF YOUR CHOICE. I WILL SIMPLY DELIVER THE CAR AND KEYS TO THE SHIPPER OF YOUR CHOICE. THANK YOU.
