1972 Capri, produced by Ford of Germany and sold in the US by Mercury First sold in California and has been in the State all of its life. Originally a V6 4 speed car converted to 5.0 V8 with a 5 speed Rebuilt 5.0 HO fuel injection motor with mild cam, ported and polished head etc and Tremic 5 speed trans from an 89 GT Mustang. Its a well engineered swap that was completed a few years ago, the car has been driven several thousand miles since the swap.its always been kept a running driving car that is currently insured and registered. It needs work; there is some rust on the body, although the car has never been repainted. It needs interior work and cleaning up the bodywork throughout. Its a project that can be driven as you work on it. Personally i have not chosen to paint or pretty it up in the years i have owned it, as its far easier and lots more fun to sneak up on flashy "sports cars" in a rat rod Capri before you blow their doors off. Needless to say it is very light so scary fast and will give new muscle cars, Porsche etc a run for their money on the freeway. Loud, Fast and Dangerous as a true street machine should be. Please contact me if you have any questions On May-08-14 at 10:19:40 PDT, seller added the following information: To address a few questions i've had; A few people have asked about the engine, The motor has a very mild tune, it made 224 HP at the wheels and 278 Ft-Lbs Torque on the dyno ( i have the printout ). It runs on the standard Ford ECU engine management, NO special standalone etc, you can take the car to the Ford dealer and they can plug it in to a diagnostic computer just like any regular Mustang. How fast is it? The car wieghs about 2000 lbs ( less than a Miata or Civic ) and makes 224 HP at the wheels... keeping it from getting sideways in any gear takes practice. On the freeway, you will run out of nerve before the car runs out of speed. Yes it is a project car, it needs work in most areas. I have a clean and clear California title and it is currently registered. On May-10-14 at 20:08:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I have taken and posted some interior pics as a lot of people have requested them, the front seats need retrimming, the rears are very good, the door panels are also good with no rips or speaker holes, the carpet is good, the dash is cracked in a couple of places ( i will include a second dash which is better ). the headliner was bad so was removed. the stock 1970s radio is also inlcuded. please let me know if you need more pics of any other areas. ( i will include the patch panels for the rear of the quarters behind the wheel arch which were purchased from a capri restoration shop in the UK ). Also the spare wheel tub. My long-term intenstion was to fit a Ford Motorsport Cologne widearch bodykit which would have taken care of these rust areas, as they are cut out and removed when the kit is fitted. ( it covers the whole of the rear quarters and replaces the front fenders completely ) I have the kit which i imported from the UK. the winning bidder will have the option to purchase it separately.
