Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1991 Chrysler TC by Maserati convertible. It is equipped with the 3.0 litre Chrysler V-6 mated to the 4-speed automatic transmission. It is fully equipped, as all TC’s are, and includes the only option available… a CD player. Included are: Two sets of original keys, the umbrella, tool kit, all manuals, spare tire cozy, and roof stand. Also included is a custom interior cover for days that you don’t want to bother raising the top. It has 55,036 miles as of the beginning of this auction, and was just serviced at Chrysler last month. The engine runs smooth and quiet, and has plenty of power. Last year, I replaced the alternator and the battery. This TC has had a few owners before me, and this car suffered the same circumstances with each one. It was never a primary mode of transportation, and it mostly sat in all of our garages. According to the TC registry, there were only 13 TCs produced with the Red Paint/Black Interior/ Black Top combination (The majority of the Red TCs had Camel Interiors and Tops). So, this is one of the rarest combinations within the breed. The rarest was a White/Bordeaux/Black car, which was the final TC off the assembly line. http://forums.aaca.org/f144/tc-database-vin-engine-color-349714.html The Exotic Red paint and Black Italian leather interior are original and in very good condition. There are minor chips, scratches, and dings in the paint here and there. The Italian rims still have the factory plastic coating on them. The front bumper stainless has a small dent in it (Another vehicle backed into it at the grocery store). I have the replacement stainless, and it will be included in the sale. The left rear bumper rub strip was damaged by a previous owner. I have the replacement, which will be included in the sale. The dash has a small leather section, near the passenger A/C vent that is coming unglued (see photo). It is a simple repair that will yield big results. The top pull-down mechanism, latches, and switches all work perfectly. The black soft top is in beautiful condition. The hardtop has a few scratches near the base, behind the passenger side window. All glass is in very good condition with no noticeable chips, and there are no cracks. The hardtop portholes are in great shape, with little to no delamination. The interior smells heavenly with all of that hand-stitched Italian leather. All gauges, power options (including antenna), lights, horn, air-conditioning, heater, cruise control, and stereo all work, with the following three exceptions. 1 - The power lock actuator on the driver’s door does not work ( I believe the linkage is jammed). 2 - Occasionally, the transmission goes into limp mode as it has trouble engaging into third gear. When I over-inflate the tires to 38 psi, the transmission works just fine. I replaced the transmission solenoid, and had Chrysler change the fluid to be sure it was filled with ATF+4 Fluid. This is important for you, as a buyer to know. This is the only fluid that is recommended by Chrysler. There may be a simple fix that I am not aware of. But until I know what it is, I can only guess that the transmission will eventually need to be rebuilt. 3 - The parking brake does not hold (this is simply an adjustment at the rear calipers). NOTE: During the last service at Chrysler, the dealership pointed out that the passenger side outer CV boot is torn, and recommended replacement. However the dealer did not stock the boot. I purchased a Mopar boot, and will include it in the sale. There is currently no damage to the CV joint, as this was noticed early. It may sound like I am nitpicking on this car, and I am. I want you as a buyer to have as much information as possible to be confident with your purchase. It really is a very nice car, and it has flaws you should know about. If you are comfortable repairing the transmission, you will have a wonderful convertible that will last you for a long time that is great looking, quiet, luxurious, and collectible. There is a wonderful following with the TC of America Club that was founded shortly after production ceased on this limited production car. This is the first car to be built during the last month of production (04/90). Here is more information about this car’s history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_TC_by_Maserati I am available for you to inspect this beautiful TC and I welcome any questions that you may have.
