Vehicle Detail

This is a 1962 Corvette original roman red laquer painted in the 80's and still shines great, with the original red hardtop and interior. The body is very straight and original with a new cowl induction type hood added for clearance above the 8 injector ram tubes. I have the original hood uncut in prime and the complete white convertible top with my spare parts. Both hoods line up and fit perfectly. All the body lines and panels are just right, doors, trunk, fenders, headlight bezels match up perfectly. This is a no crash car. There were stress crack and scratch repairs fixed in the mid 80's. This body is hard. The Vet is a driver. With a little detailing it could be finished out as a show car. In 1971 this Corvette received its change to become a Hot Rod. The previous owner, my good friend, bolted the 4 inch Ibeam type spacers,(between each frame rail and the front crossmember with a center spacer under the radiator support) lifting the car's nose, like a Gasser, added a set of headers and bolted on the ss Cragars with Inglewood tires creating a bad ass Hot Rod 62 Corvette. Years later in March 1982 my friend claiming he had too many projects, sold me the Vet minus engine and transmission. I hauled the car to my repair shop where I unbolted the body from the frame, lifted and supported the body and rolled the chassis out from under it. Then disassembled the suspension from the frame and sent it out to be sand blasted. The frame cleaned up good, no rust just minor pitting here and there. Then it got the treatment, primed and painted black. The front and rear suspension was blasted or cleaned, primed and painted black. Then bushings, pins and bearings, brakes, lines, cyclinders, the basics replaced or rebuilt. Then the primed body was mounted back on the rolling chassis. The car set in the shops office near a year or so before we put the roman red on the car. I had picked up a early Nova with a straight axle, locked rear and a fuel injected 350 that ran in the altered class on the strip. It ran real good but the body was twisted and the doors didn't close well. The 488 locked rear hated corners. It steered like a old truck and did't have front brakes. I pulled the motor and trans and offed the Nova. I really liked the Enderle injection. The set up was drag race only. A outlaw track racer told me about Kinsler Fuel Injection in Troy Michigan. Kinsler does all kinds of injection system, they told me all about constant flow injection like mine, and what was needed to update my system for street and strip use. The constant flow type compared to Lucas mechanical and the Electronic type was the easiest overall system to maintain. I boxed up my complete Enderle system and shipped to Kinsler. I got it back in a few weeks ready to go complete with new stainless steel throttle shafts, bronze bushings, new butterflies, all new linkages new Kinsler nozzles, a new Hilborn fuel pump and drive, main and secondary by-pass, filter,a electric main fuel shut-off, a degreed barrel valve spool and all the needed AN fittings, junction block and hoses, the very important vapor speprator tank, pressure relief valve and the in car adjustable jet selector valve allowing the driver to adjust the fuel rate by a twist of the 8 position knob. Motoring along to all-out performance. Kinsler also documented all of everthing now included in my set up, a complete parts catolog and a book of fuel injection systems covering the theory of how things work, diagrams of systems and trouble shooting manuals . The engine block for this car is a special order new GM HP366246, a 350, 4 inch bore 4 bolt main special cast iron containing a high tin alloy that is stronger, machines better and cyclinder walls finish hone best for performance. The forged pistons were fitted to the block, full floated to the HP GM connecting rods. TRW double moly piston rings and clevite bearings fitted along with the 3-9/16 stroker crankshaft installed in the new aline bored block. The assembly with the new harmonic balancer and steel flywheel were all a balanced unit. A Meling HV, HP oil pump with a deep sum pickup and Milidon windage tray inside the 8 quart Moroso oil pan installed. The new 30/30 GM cam and lifters with a Cloyes true roller chain installed. The block has screw in oil galley plugs. new expansion plugs, and new cam bearings installed after all machine work completed. The new 1112B angle plug cyclinder heads were fitted with 2.02 intake and 1.6 stainless steel Manley valves, bronze wall guides machined for PC oil seals, the spring seats machined for the Crane valve springs with retainers and locks. New Manley pushrod guide plates and new GM rocker studs installed, with a competition valve job and the new heads resurfaced. TRW performance pushrods and long slot forged rocker arms complete the top end. Ignition is sparked by a MSD 6A and Mallory tach drive distributor with Accel 8.8 spiral core wires and plugs. The rebuilt M21 Muncie 4 speed and competition plus Hurst shifter hookup to the Lakewood blow proof bell with a Zoom clutch setup. A new driveshaft with heavy duty U-joints connect to the original 411 posi rearend. The Cragar SS wheels are 15x6 front and 15x8 on the rear with Defender 235-60 and 275-60 radial tires. The radiator and fuel tank are new. I do have extra parts and pieces and the original 1962 Corvette owners guide. Since back on the road in1991 the Vet has less than 4000 miles on it. This Corvette is fun to drive and very fast if you want to be, upholding "The Old School Spirt of a Hot Rod" since 1971. At this time I am not considering trades and not at all interested if someone wants to restore the car to original. The buyer assumes all pickup or deliverly costs. The car is "Sold As Is", Cash or when I have cashed the buyers bank check. No Pay PAL.! Full payment within 7 days after auction. If interested please call 860 884 2910 or by Email, Ebay . Thank you, JIM OTTO .
