Vehicle Detail
I’m not a car dealers or “flippers” like you often see on Ebay. I’m a Mustang enthusiast - I own two other mustangs, including the red fastback (shown below) which I’ve had for 30 plus years now. This car started out as a no rust “T” code convertible. The bench seats are original as I believe are all the body panels - other than the hood. I had this car restored/built for my wife with the objective of improving its comfort, performance, and safety while maintaining the classic mustang look and sound. With less than 40k original (not rebuilt) miles on the 302 roller motor, and less than 2,000 miles (since new or being rebuilt) on the transmission, differential, and just about everything else, the car is as reliable as it is beautiful. A couple of weeks ago I drove this car about 150 miles (without a hitch) to its first mustang car show where it won the “Award of Excellence” in the 1965-1966 mustang convertible class. With almost 400 hp on tap the car is fast off the line. But this car is really built for weekend getaway drives (with the AOD it turns about 2800 rpm @ 65 mph and delivers 20+ mpg if you keep your foot out of it), especially those that involve twisty back country roads. With rack and pinion steering, Wilwood power disc brakes, sub-frame connectors, newer bushings throughout, and high performance suspension components all around, the car offers a far more spirited, comfortable, and safe driving experience than when it came off the factory line. I’m offering it up for sale because my wife rarely drives the car and has recently confessed a long standing love for old Camaros … go figure!Drivetrain:1989 5.0L (302) with less than 40k original miles– not rebuilt Long tube headers : With H pipe, dual exhaust, and turbo mufflers Electric fuel pump Edlebrock RPM Heads w/dual springs and 1.7:1 roller rockers ARP Head studs Edlebrock RPM Intake Edelbrock 750 Carb (with cleanable/reusable air filter) & pholenic spacer Comp Cams XE270HR-14 Cam (barely noticeable at idle) True double roller timing chain Canton high volume oil pan with windage tray and baffles (anti-splash) MSD 6AL and MSD blaster coil Rebuilt AOD Transmission with: 2800 Stall converter, shift kit, and dual oil coolers.
