First and foremost, winning bidder never came to see the truck! To verify, contact ebay user BrassNut and ask him yourself. Initially he contacted me very exited about his purchase. Because the bidding went higher than expected I offered to rebuild the radiator free of charge for him, that's a $400 bonus folks! The missing rad fins were the only mechanical worry that I had concerning this rare truck and I wanted him to be satisfied with his purchase for many miles. He was very exited with this generous offer and encouraged me to do so. Soon after I dropped the rad off for a rebuild BrassNut contacted me and finally admitted that he was backing out of the deal, so here we are. Same great truck with a brand new rebuilt radiator. This was totally a preventative measure, this low mileage engine is all original and has never been overheated. Left hand drive 70 series are very rare, Left Hand Drive 73 series are practically unheard of on this continent! Up for auction is my 1988 German LJ73 Land Cruiser. Ebay doesn't allow european VINs, the actual # is JT1V0LJ7309006692. This all original beauty immigrated from Germany 7 years ago, only 124 000 original miles! (199 000 km) This truck is street legal and ready to cruise, needs nothing but a driver. It's not a mint show piece but it's priced at less than half the reserve price of any 70 series on here. NO RESERVE! You bid you own. The LJ models have a few advantages over their BJ70 cousins:- removable hardtop and fold down windshield- coil suspension instead of leaf for better approach angle, smoother ride and better articulation- lighter weight and more differential clearance- 12 volt electronics instead of 24, shares many relays with FJ62's, 4runners, tacomas etc. Mechanical - Motor starts and runs flawlessly, 2.4L turbo diesel returns great fuel mileage. 5 speed R151 tranny shifts perfectly and the clutch is fine. 4WD button and lever, hubs, lights, brakes, you name it, everything works as it should. I brought the truck to a Canadian Tire garage here just 2 weeks ago and had a complete safety inspection done, there's a brand new sticker on the windshield and a brand new radiator under the hood as a preventative measure. The glow plugs are on a direct switch. The extremely rare FRP sunroof leaks, one of the 2 tabs up front is broke and this reduces down pressure causing the leak. Oh, and you can see my DIY horn in the dash pic, I would have needed to cut the leather wheel to fix the originals. Body - Since this cruiser has only been in Canada for 7 years it hasn't had time to rust to dust like most of the Canadian Domestic Market 70's up here. The body had a few rust areas so I cut them out and welded in fresh metal. Since there's a good chance that potential buyers won't get a chance to see this truck, please view the videos below to be sure this is the vehicle for you. Frame - When the truck was on a hoist in the shop for the safety inspection the mechanic and I went over every inch of the frame with a welding hammer. We found three spots that he advised should be nipped in the bud, so I went overkill on the fix and welded large sections in to more than cover the rusted spots. Both sides right behind the rear coils and one spot near the front passenger side. THIS TRUCK IS 26 YEARS OLD AND BONE STOCK. IF CUSTOMS DOESN'T LET YOU BACK INTO YOUR COUNTRY WITH YOUR NEW CRUISER, I WILL GLADLY RETURN EVERY CENT OF YOUR MONEY INCLUDING THE PAYPAL DEPOSIT. 1) First and foremost, you or your importer will have to accompany the truck across the border. I am not legally allowed to drive the vehicle across the border to finalize our deal down there. Even if I did, you would have to drive the truck back to the border and import it legally anyway in order to get it registered. I'm not sure if you will have to get another mechanical safety inspection done in your state but the cruiser just passed an inspection up here so I would hope that it would pass without much drama down there.
