Vehicle Detail
I just bought the car of my dreams from a seller in Colorado, a 1954 Chevy 210 Handyman wagon. My first car was a 54 Chevy and I have wanted to hot rod one with a modern chassis and drive train ever since. I am now old enough and have enough money to do it but it doesn’t look like it’s going to work out this time; this car is near perfect for what I had planned but for personal reasons based on occurrences this week I am unable to continue with the project. So, it is now time to sell it and hope there will be a better time for the project in the future. The previous owner did not give a good, complete description, but I will try to here. The body of this wagon is in excellent condition for a 60 year old car. I have observed no rust, there is good fit for all the panels and doors and all the chrome and stainless shows well. In all, this car was just what I wanted for my purposes. The car has been repainted not too long ago in an original Chevy color “saddle Brown” (color code #559) and the repaint was very good both inside and out. All the interior; seats, doors and headliner, has been redone in white Naugahyde. The front windshield is cracked and there is Plexiglas in the driver side window. I have purchased a new windshield and gasket and driver side window (see the packing slip picture) they are Included with the car in this sale. There are single cracks in both rear passenger windows but the glass appears to be original. Any additional replacement glass needed can be obtained from Bob’s Classic Auto Glass in Eugene, OR. Also the horn ring with the HARD TO FIND brown center emblem is missing; however, I did find one (see the picture) and it will also be included with the car in this sale . The car comes with a visor, skirts and dummy spot lights. The rear view mirror will need to be replaced. The car has seat belts that I believe are recent additions. All the mechanics, chassis and drive train are original and in good working condition, the battery appears fairly new but I had to jump start it the first time. After it warmed up the 235 ci in line 6 cylinder purred just like mine did back in the 50’s and the 2 speed “power glide” transmission shifted smoothly. The fuel gauge does not work. The brakes work and the tires are new. Also new, according to the previous owner, are the front springs, rims, hubcaps, brakes, battery, gas tank, filler neck, Petronix electronic ignition, cap, rotor, wires, plugs and a recent valve train adjustment. Headlights, taillights and turn signals all work. This is a good car. The reserve price is a little less than I paid, happy bidding and call me with any questions at (601) 932-1155, Tom.
