Vehicle Detail
1980 Triumph TR8. Good Condition with 103K miles. Stock Paint (never repainted) and Interior. One of 800 California models sold with fuel injection. I believe that a little over 2200 were made in total. Recently passed smog emissions inspection so the motor is very healthy. Starts up and idles perfectly. Pulls through all the gears very well. The 5 speed manual shifts well and the clutch is strong. Brakes and suspension are all in very good working order. Does not overheat even in LA traffic. You can drive this one home. Over the past few weeks I have changed all the fluids, filters, O2 sensors and had the ECU rebuilt by Jim Tencate of the TR7/8 owners club. All of the electrics work with the exception of the clock. The AC is hooked up but does not blow cold so I believe that it needs a rebuild. The Good:Starts right up and drives really wellOriginal paint with no clear coat damage and original TR8 decalsOriginal interior showing very little wearGreat original carpetsVery nice original allow wheels with no kerb marksDecent tires with plenty of tread leftOriginal motor and transNo smoke on start up or under accelerationAll electrics work except the clockOriginal working Triumph RadioHood CoverTonneau CoverToolsOriginal sales brochure103K original milesElectronic IgnitionClear convertible top windows The Bad:There is one 4" cut in the convertible top near the left quarter window and one 1" cut on the top near the left corner of the windshieldThe steering rack makes a slight moan at the extreme ends of the turning radiusThere are two 3" scratches on the drivers door (see picture)The paint on the hood has some cracks due to heatThere is a ding on the driver side rockerBoth door latches are a little sticky and need a good slam to closeYou get a slight whiff of burnt oil from the underside if she sits for a few days which pints towards a small fluid leak This is a very good and honest TR8. I've owned TR2s, 3s and 6s over the years and this is the best driving Triumph I have owned. I would recommend that the buyer enjoys her this summer then over the winter replace the convertible top and get the hood and drivers door painted. The title is clear and in my name.On Apr-16-14 at 16:13:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been contacted by a previous owner and some new information has come to light. The car was repainted back in 1996 in the correct color. As there is little evidence of overspray I think it was a pretty good job but as I mentioned in the ad, the hood and the drivers door could really use new paint. The previous owner also informed me that he also replaced the interior when he repainted the car and that explains the good condition. The hood was also replaced but as mentioned there are two tears and you will also noticed that a couple of snaps have fallen off. To conclude she has had some cosmetic work done back in 1996. I want to thank Fred for contacting me.
