1986 Honda CR

For sale, 1986 Honda CR500. I got this bike last summer as a project. I installed new clutch plates, new air box, new air filter. It was missing the entire front brake assembly. I purchased and installed a used, but in good shape, master cylinder, brake line, and front caliper. The brakes now work fine. It had not been run for quite a few years, I was able to get it started and have ridden it some but not a lot. It does not seem like the powerband kicks in like it should. I am not sure whether it is a carburetor issue or just what. It takes a few kicks to get it started but from what I understand, that is to be expected with these 500's. It has an FMF fatty pipe and silencer. I bought a front tire off ebay, but did not read the listing right and the tire is a DOT tire. Not what I had envisioned for the bike. I think that you could rebuild the motor and have a great bike. I just don't have the time to mess with it anymore. I could be wrong, but I think the 86 500 has one of the most powerful motors Honda ever put in these bikes. I had really wanted to get it going and experience it, but realize that it would be better off in someone elses garage who will appreciate it more than me. The ATC250R in the pics is on another auction for the same reason. Local pick up only. Located in Harrisonburg, VA.
