My Adventure Van is complete! Now it's time to sell it to a happy camper :) This is a 2002 Chevrolet Astro 4x4 and it is BY FAR the coolest van you can buy for this price range. When I built this van the idea was for it to be a great daily driver but have the ability to do some real off-roading and mountain exploration. These vans last forever!I picked the Safari/Astro van because they get 23 mpg on the freeway, they have a huge flat cargo area that fits a queen sized bed on the folded down seats plus a ton of gear under them, a transfer case from a Blazer with 2wd, 4 high and 4 low will bolt right in, and the 4.3 Vortec V6 is one of the longest lasting engines GMC ever produced, plus they have plenty of power. I have built lots of Land Rovers and Jeeps but they just don't have enough room for camping in plus your gear. It's a Camper/ Grocery Getter/ People Mover/ Trail Rig Adventure Machine!4X4 Adventure Vans are a really cool idea but trying to find a nice converted van for under $20,000 is almost impossible and even if you do it will have a huge gas guzzling V8 and that takes a lot of the fun out of your trips.
