SPRING IS HERE!!! I am re-listing my beautiful 2002 Suzuki DR-650 SE. It came close to the reserve price last fall, but not quite. I decided to re-list it now that spring is here and all those great riding days are ahead of us. The bike is in great condition. Has a few minor chips here and there, a few boot scuffs on engine case, but overall it is beautiful. It has been ridden on and off road but mainly on dirt trails. I am 58 years old, so it has been ridden conservatively, no big jumps, never submerged, never crashed. Mechanically it is perfect, check the low miles. The 3259 miles is accurate. It is extremely low miles for this year bike. One of the problems we have in South Florida is the lack of places to ride in the dirt, hence the low miles. I bought it with about 650 miles. The Suzuki DR-650 is a very reliable machine, very powerful, but it does have a couple of weak points that I have modified. Here's a list of items that have been modded: 1. Rear sprocket was changed to make it a little easier to ride at very slow speed in the dirt. 2. Stock seat is notoriously uncomfortable, so I replaced it with the Suzuki Gel Seat, big improvement, it also lowers riding height by about an inch. 3. The bike comes from the factory with two ride height settings, it is now set at the lower setting. I am 5' 8" and can sit on bike with both feet on ground, almost flat foot. 4. The stock carburetor is adequate, but a popular mod is to replace it with a pumper carb. I replaced it with a Mikuni pumper carb. Wow, what an improvement, awesome throttle response. 5. The choke lever on the handlebars runs to the carb via a cable which in time invites rust and possible problems, I replaced it with a choke lever located right at the carburetor, eliminating the handlebar lever and cable. 6. The only big flaw with the stock motorcycle is the paper engine base gasket, they all eventually leak, and leak a lot. The common fix is to replace the head gasket with the newer metal gasket. I had that done, and it never leaks. That job is a $300-$400 job which I have already had done professionally. 7. Cosmetically I shortened the huge and ugly rear fender extension, it looks sooooo much better. 8. I have DOT knobby tires installed, the stock tires were not good on the dirt. These knobbies are legal for street. 9. Installed Acerbis hand guards I recommend you go to THUMPERTALK.COM and find the Suzuki DR section for a ton of information on the bike and you can read from others what a great bike it is. Also a great source of information if you buy it. I have enjoyed my bike tremendously, I only wish I could have ridden and enjoyed it more. Why am I selling it? It's the sad realization that I am getting a little old to play in the dirt with motorcycles, and I really have little interest in street riding. Well, if you have any questions, please email me and if you want to see and ride the DR , I am in Jupiter, Florida and you are welcome to test ride it, just email me. You will not regret buying my bike, it was great out of the factory, it is now a little better. Good luck.On Apr-06-14 at 13:09:06 PDT, seller added the following information: REVISION 1 I forgot to list one more modification: The factory chain rollers are prone to breaking and when they do, they can leave a small hole in the frame. Before they broke, I replaced them with bearing rollers which totally eliminate this problem. Some owners remove the rollers altogether feeling that they are unnecessary. On Apr-08-14 at 08:33:30 PDT, seller added the following information: REVISION 2 I found the stock sprocket in the garage. It is a 15 tooth sprocket, the one on the bike now is a 14 tooth sprocket. I also forgot to mention that the exhaust header has been ceramic coated for a better look.
