I basically told the mechanic at Land Cruiser NW (a local Land Cruiser specialized mechanic) to fix everything necessary to ensure it runs great. So here's the story: I found a FJ60 in Paradise CA on Craigslist a couple months back. It looked to be a good deal, so I made a deposit and flew down there the following week. I took my nephew along with me for the long drive home. We jumped in a rental car and made our way to Paradise to pick up the truck. However, upon arrival, I realized that I had made a terrible mistake. The truck was not at all as advertised and was in horrible shape (fortunately the owner gave me my deposit back). Always the optimist, on our drive out of this guys driveway, I asked my nephew to look on his smart phone to see if any new ads had popped up in the area. As luck would have it, one had just come up the previous day. I called the owner and realized that he was just an hour south; we immediately started heading in that direction. We met the owner at his office right as he was getting off work. I was very relieved to see that, unlike the other FJ60, this one was actually in better shape than advertised. I took the car around the block, made sure the 4WD engaged, then followed him to his house to get the title. What was a horrible trip turned into a very good one. My nephew and I then began our 500+ mile trip back to Portland, OR. We took a couple days to make the trip, checking out the sights and spending the night in Redding. We averaged 65-70mph the entire trip. The truck drove flawlessly the entire trip…no issues whatsoever. Its remarkably quiet, drives straight and true and doesn't have any annoying squeaks. This is a great truck with a long life ahead of it… If you know about these trucks, and have seen others, you know what an EXTREMELY RARE find this one is. If you don’t know of the FJ60’s reliability and versatility, do your homework. I challenge you to find any negative comments on any website. In my opinion, these are the best SUV’s ever made. This is a proven truck with years of reliability. This truck has LOW MILES for the year. It also comes with a very desirable color combination and very expensive ARB front bumper, high intensity Hella lights and powerful stereo. This truck is documented as always being a California car with a clean CarFax and has NO ACCIDENTS OR BODY RUST (only very minor surface rust on the frame which is to be expected). This truck also has a CLEAN TITLE. This is a truck that can last a lifetime and be passed from generation to generation. I've had a few of these restored in the last couple years and have always brought them to their original condition. However, with this one, after realizing how much the previous owner must have invested, I opted to keep the stereo system in place. There are 6 quality speakers, a sub woofer, two amps and a very nice CD deck with Bluetooth. I know nothing about stereo systems, but this one seems to be really nice and truly sounds amazing. I also opted to keep the ARB bumper and Hella lights in place as I think it's a really cool look; also, these items are very expensive. So, other than the stereo, bumper & lights and oversized 31' tires, this is a stock truck. These trucks are only increasing in value and are widely popular across all generations and demographics. I've sold them in the past to ranchers, commercial pilots, CEO's of investment firms, conspiracy theorists, hipsters and fathers who just wanted family to be safe vehicle. Imperfections on the interior are very hard to find. There are no stains or smells; no pet hair; no tears or fading upholstery. The interior is a 9 out of 10. The exterior shines and has only very scratches that can be expected. The previous owner did have the truck repainted a couple years ago in the original factory color. I was told that the work was accomplished by a reputable shop. The exterior is a 9 out of 10. The engine runs strong with NO SMOKING or KNOCKS. The transmission shifts flawlessly. The 4WD shifts effortlessly and works amazing. It is truly a joy to drive! Bid with confidence in this NO RESERVE AUCTION.
