Vehicle Detail
1982 Honda GL500 Silverwing A fun and interesting motorcycle. This bike has the shaft drive of a BMW, a cross-frame V-twin like a Moto Guzzi, and water cooling like a Goldwing. The GL500 differed from the CX in a few ways, the most notable was with an Air suspension, front and back. This is really one of the best riding bikes I've ridden - you float on the road. When I got the bike, it was from the original owner's son. It has the original manual and tool kit. I had it tuned up at Honda Suzuki of Warren, got new fork seals and tires, and I've ridden it on and off for a few years. In the pictures, you can see there's a little trunk on the back. That is original; they were sold as naked bikes (like this) or with full fairings and luggage. You could get a small case like as shown on the bike or a taller one. Those could be removed, and the passenger portion of the seat put back on (which I also have). This bike is reliable, keeps up with traffic, and I wouldn't hesitate to take it anywhere. The only things I know to be wrong with the bike are that the trip odometer doesn't work (the regular one does), and there are some scratches on the tank (I was told this was from when there was a break in at the PO's garage, and stuff was knocked onto the bike). The instrument light cluster is cracked, but solid on the bike and functional. It was a common part for Hondas of that era, so you could find one on Ebay cheap. I'm selling it because my garage is getting full, and the bike is a little tight for me (I'm 6'2", and I like a little more leg room). I'm more of a BMW guy myself. I'm funding some other projects, so bye bye Honda. Good Luck!
