Vehicle Detail
I have decided to part with my beloved '94 BMW R100GS. Of the more than 30 bikes I've owned over the years, this has been my favorite. I bought it five years ago from its original owner, my next-door neighbor. I had wanted this bike since the day he bought it, and I had to buy two bikes from him in order to get this one. This bike had never even been washed until I bought it; he used diapers and Pledge only for cleaning! I doubt the bike had ever seen rain until I owned her. It had about 25,000 on it when I bought it and now has almost 50,000. I bought a 2013 R1200GSW last year and have decided I don't need to be a collector. This is a wonderful example of this iconic bike, the nicest I've ever seen. Truly ready to ride anywhere RIGHT NOW. I'll include as many pics as I can, and am happy to supply more to serious parties as needed. It's hard to know where to start with this description, and I know I'll leave out some extras and services performed, but I will do my best. Please ask any questions you might have. If you are wanting an R100GS, you won't easily find a nicer one. This bike was in excellent condition when I bought it. The original owner kept it very nice, and being almost 70 years old when he sold it to me was not at all hard on the bike. I'm an avid rider and engineer, so where he left off I picked up. I had intentions of riding the bike many more miles annually, which I did. I put as many miles on it in five years as he did in fifteen. I am much more the technician than him, and have done everything the bike needs or needed since I became owner. The list is long, and I will miss stuff for sure. I have put a lot of money into this bike to make sure it is100% at all times. The following is what I can think of right now: Progressive fork springs, driveshaft rebuild by Henderson Machine, SS front brake hose, Ferodo pads and shoes, horns (Fiamms w/relay), hand guards, heated grips, solo Paris Dakar saddle from Corbin (have Corbin Dual Canyon with backrest and OE saddle also...all perfect), rear rack for solo saddle, "BRAKE!" flashing/pulsing tail lamp assy, LEDs added to all turn signals (always on), side cases and mounts, Wunderlich model-specific expandable tankbag, Odyssey battery, powder-coated engine guards and center/side stands (new OE hardware and bushings for both), new OE mirrors (they crack over time), ALL rubber parts, rebuilt top end 3 years ago (wasn't happy with oil consumption on left cyl; OO used Mobil 1 from beginning and rings did not seat properly), wheel bearings, steering head bearings, Paralever bearings, trans output seal, carb floats/needles/diaphragms/boots, rebuilt fuel petcocks, all fluids multiple times, K&N, tall smoke windscreen (have OE piece...perfect), all light bulbs in gauges, new springs on both stands, all new exhaust system seals, special lighter-pull throttle springs, etc., etc. Have a pile of receipts. Also have new spares that haven't been installed; throttle cables, new set of Metzeler Tourances, more. Also, the bike comes with a custom made cover and case for traveling; keeps your seat, tankbag, and rack luggage dry and out of sight. I'll let the pictures speak from here and welcome questions. Only problem with bike? Speedo needle bounces; worse when cold (viscous damping media likely dried up). Please check my feedback as a seller. I always try my best to accurately describe my auction items, both in words and pictures. Not interested in any trades at this time please. I will not ship, so you gotta figure that one out on your own. I might possibly deliver it somewhere for shipment, but that depends on weather. I live in Michigan and riding days are sketchy here now. A few comments: There are no leaks; anything under the bike is residual water from her bath. I have the headlight rock guard, just don't use it. Has new clutch cable. I have the owner's manual. Anything that looks like chips in the paint are reflections, although there are four very minor paint chips on the bike there are no scratches (no chips are visible in the pics except the two on the instrument surround). I also have the original air-injection hardware complete. Anything that came with the bike but isn't pictured, I still have. Please take this auction seriously!! Please refrain from bidding if you don't intend to buy, or can't afford the decision you just made. All this does is cost me money and grief and mess up a qualified buyer's desires! GOOD LUCK!! THIS ITEM SELLS TO THE UNITED STATES OR CANADA ONLY. ANY BIDS FROM ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD WILL BE DUMPED. PERIOD. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PICKUP. I WILL NOT SHIP THIS ITEM ANYWHERE. Sorry to have to do this stuff, but you know the saying...a few bad apples. I have a lot of time and some money in trying to find a new home for this bike, and there's no reason this shouldn't go smoothly. Thanks in advance for your understanding and compliance!
