acaceca store SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE CAR PARTS AND ACCESSORIES Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: ANOTHER BARN FIND. This is a no reserve auction and the Triumph will be sold regardless of price, on or off auction. This particular auction is for an authentic original 1963 Triumph TR4 Roadster as shown. A couple photos show it as it was recently removed from the barn. We just cleaned it up, got it running and took the rest of the photos. It is an unrestored original survivor. The odometer shows 59592 miles. I believe it is correct but cannot guarantee it's accuracy. There are over 60 detailed photos. As of this writing Hagertys classic car values list the value for the 1963 Triumph TR4 at $12,500 low and $52,300 high. Average of $20832. Most of my cars were stored 25 to 35 years ago. They were all driven running and driving into storage and parked. Then the engine cylinders were filled with a rotary piston aircraft preservation lubricant and the sheet metal parts and chrome were sprayed with Cosmoline, a dark sticky preservative normally used to preserve weapons such as rifles used in the armed forces. I get tired of seeing nothing but "restored" or junk, modified, restorod, unoriginal or rusty cars for sale. I spent 40 years collecting the best original unrestored cars I could find, putting them in storage preserving them for enjoyment by some future owner. In the meantime I have had tremendous enjoyment just looking at and touching the cars (only car guys won't think this is bizarre). Nowadays it is hard for the do it yourselfer to find an original car worthy and inexpensive enough to restore and have something that is a solid original when their job is finished. A lot of the vintage cars have been given a one week "restoration" hiding many sins and covering up the interesting historic indicators of time. Most original survivors have disappeared. A lot of the leftovers are either glossed over "restored" cars or rusty beaters. I like to see the cars in their untouched condition. Bought a "restored" Austin Healey 3000 many years ago and found later that it was a rusty disaster, exactly what I wanted to avoid. An untouched original, even if it has problems, gives you an accurate assessment of it's overall condition and what kind of work needs to be done. I will answer all email questions. Following is a detailed description: GENERAL DESCRIPTION: It is a Southern Georgia car, last driven and registered in Georgia in 1982 and put in storage at that time. It has some sheet metal rust but nothing that can't be fixed easily. The frame is in very good condition with only some moderate scale surface rust. It was repainted in red many years ago over the original factory Powder blue. It does start and run but will not drive due to no brakes or hydraulics. The interior is pretty decent with some nice Triumph TR6 highback bucket seats.. ENGINE: Starts and runs from the ignition key. We started it by feeding fuel to the carbs through an external fuel tank. We opted not to go through the mess of cleaning out the fuel lines and tank, leaving that to the next owner. No smoke, no noises, has oil pressure. Good dual Stromberg carburetors that are not worn or frozen and function very well. Valve train looks nice and clean and solid. Lucas starter and generator are original to the engine. Engine number is CT3298E. TRANSMISSION: Original Triumph 4 speed transmission. Shifts well in a stationary position and shifted perfectly with no problems the day it was stored. Should be the same today but cannot guarantee anything. Transmission clutch hydraulic master cylinder and slave cylinder will need replacing or rebuilding. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Nice and solid and straight. No rust through with the exception of a couple of small holes in the battery box as shown. Radiator looks to be original and in good condition. It has not been pressure tested but was full of anti freeze when removed from storage with no leaking. There is no battery. Looks like most if not all of the original equipment is still intact - fuse panel, wiper motor, horns, voltage regulator, air cleaners, etc. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Pretty solid with some surface and scale rust as shown. Spare wheel is there. Spare tire is no good. Fuel tank pressed board bulkhead and spare tire cover are missing. EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS: Some rust in the fenders. The rocker panels were replaced with galvanized sheet metal - useable for a driver and not too bad of a job. The inner rockers are still intact - they have heavy scale rust but nothing through. The doors are pretty good - no rust through on the bottoms and they open and shut solidly. Hood is nice. The previous owner liked a smooth uncluttered look and removed the bumper guards and Triumph lettering and badge on the hood and had the small mounting holes for the letters filled in with brass before repainting the car. Trunk area at the bottom near the top of the bumper has rust in the upper rear apron where it meets the lower edge of the trunk lid - where the trunk lid rubber seal would go - and the trunk lid on the very bottom has rust. EXTERIOR BODY PARTS: Front bumper is in quite good, straight condition. Rear bumper needs replating. Aluminum grille and headlight assemblys are very good. Tail light assemblys are good. All external body rubber gaskets and seals are old and original and will need replacing. PAINT: It had one red repaint over the original factory Powder blue paint about 20 years ago. It is presentable for a driver but will need repaint for anything beyond that. GLASS: The side windows and the windshield are good with no damage except for a windshield wiper arc scratch on the drivers side. Both side windows are good and undamaged and roll up and down easily. Rear window in the top is fogged over and not very clear. CHASSIS: The frame and underside of the car are in very good undamaged and unrotted condition, having only moderate surface rust scale. Straight and original frame. INTERIOR: The floors cannot be seen from the inside because the previous owner decided to seal them with an asphalt based insulation material many years ago, which has mind melded to the floors and is impossible to get off without hours of scraping. The floors can be seen from underneath and they don't look bad at all - there is scale rust, but I can see no rust through. The carpeting is actually pretty decent and can be used as is with a bit of cleaning. The seats are also quite decent - they are early Triumph TR6 highback bucket seats that are only partially bolted to the floor. DASH AREA: Needs a new wood dash and some of the soft dash pieces. There is a fairly large piece broken out of the left corner. The gauges look pretty decent and are probably all operable but that cannot be guaranteed. The switches seem to work but also cannot be guaranteed. No idea if the radio would work. Sun visors are good. UPHOLSTERY: The seats are early Triumph TR6 highback bucket seats in fairly nice condition. The drivers seat has a couple of small rips on the outer bolster and one small rip on the seat bottom. They both will probably need new rubber diaphrams underneath and are only partially bolted to the floor. The rest of the upholstery is original, which was blue in color and repainted black. The door panels are in poor condition - the rest is still serviceable but in fair condition. The top is still serviceable - just old. Rear window is clouded over. AIR CONDITIONING: None. Aftermarket air conditioners can be installed if need be - the new units are excellent, compact and very efficient. TIRES & WHEELS: All 5 wheels are original to the car. The tires are only good enough to hold air and drive a short distance but all need replacing. The spare tire is no good. EXHAUST: Original exhaust is there and works well but is old with a lot of typical surface rust. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: Car is not driveable because of non operable brake hydraulics. All original suspension and braking mechanisms are intact. Nothing missing. Shocks are intact. The brakes will probably need overhauling including new hydraulics, either rebuilding or replacing. Emergency brake assembly is intact. MISCELLANEOUS: Car rolls and steers easily so no problems with shuttling around. The convertible top mechanism is good and functional. Doors open and close nicely. Door windows roll up and down nicely. There is no jack or tools. PAPERWORK: There is no title. A Georgia registration and bill of sale go with the car. There is no title. In most States you can get a title - if you want or need one, with the Georgia registration. We don't need titles in Georgia. FACTORY ID PLATE: The Vehicle identification ID plates are intact. The vehicle serial number is CT23070L. Body number is 22593CT. REVIEW: This is a 50 year old sports car and should be looked at with this in mind. Most everything on the car is 50 years old but still, it is an attractive roadster that can be finished in many ways. It can be rebooted into a driver in a relatively short time or completely redone for a show car if you have the patience and money. INSPECTION OF CAR: As always, it is difficult at best to describe something as complex as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. If you elect not to do this you will have one of three outcomes after purchasing the car. #1. The car will be exactly as you thought it would be from the auction description and photos and you will be happy. #2. The car will be less than you thought it would be and you will be unhappy. #3. The car will be more than you thought it would be and you will be more than happy. And I will be the same in each case. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 15 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my due diligence and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible. SHIPPING: I have shipped many cars to all parts of the world over the years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. The car is in a secure place at my home. You can collect the car at my home. I can assist with loading. The car can stay here for up to 30 days from the close of the auction. PAYMENT & BIDDING: Contact me if you have less than 5 feedbacks or your bid will be cancelled. A $500 non refundable deposit via Paypal is due immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via priority or overnight mail with a bank cashiers check or cash. Payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. IN ADVANCE, BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - This is an auction and you have plenty of time to inspect the car personally or have a 3rd party inspect the car - inspections are welcome and encouraged. Full payment is due BEFORE the car is collected. Winning the auction does not mean that you now have the privilege of coming to inspect the car to see if you like it. If you cannot trust me, my reputation, the description and the extensive photos then it is your responsibility to inspect the car yourself or have a third party inspect it for you. When the auction is over, it is your car and payment is due at the close of the auction per these instructions. In my experience most of the cars sold on ebay are a wholesale bargain. Mine certainly have been. No Paypal for the balance. SEE MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE VINTAGE CAR PARTS AND ACCESSORIES
