Vehicle Detail
Very nice, 1941 Chevrolet Master Deluxe 2-door sedan, that runs and drives will, but still needs some finishing. I am selling this car for a neighbor (Don), who is not good with computers. You can contact Don at (503) 572-7447 with your questions. Someone has spent a lot of time and money on this Chevy to get it where it is today. Mechanically, it is great, with an upgraded rebuilt 1955 Chevrolet 6-cylinder engine (with full pressure oiling system). The engine was bored 0.30 over standard, with everything new inside, and it runs very well, although the automatic choke needs attention. The transmission and differential were also gone through, the suspension, brakes and radiator rebuilt and new exhaust system installed. The underside of the car is clean for driver quality. The car has been repainted, although I would call it “good amateur quality”. The paint shines well, but there are places where it has been touched up. It is better than a 10-footer, but not show quality. The interior needs to be redone. However, the current seat covers were installed over the original seat covering. Here is a list of the good, areas that need attention and what I see that needs finishing: THE GOOD Mechanically excellent with very little to finish. Engine, transmission, clutch, pressure plate, and differential rebuilt with virtually no miles since being rebuilt. New transmission and motor mounts. New brakes, including brake lines, shoes, hardware, master cylinder, brake cylinders etc. New carburetor, gas lines and new gas tank sending unit. New wiring harness installed, but needing placement and connection in a few places. New generator, starter, voltage regulator, battery, light switch and ignition switch. New glass except wing windows. Refurbished heater. New weather stripping. Nice rebuilt period correct radio, but not hooked up. Nice original gauges but not operational. Probably just need connected. Very nice grill and most chrome is good, although some could use replacing (see comments below). New hub caps. Car appears to be rust free except for comments listed below. Trunk area is clean as is the glove box (new cardboard). NEEDING ATTENTION/FINISHING Needs complete upholstery and carpet or rubber mats. Needs sun visors, rear view mirror, inside door handles (some present but they but not great). Arm rests are good but need installed. Rust found on the underside in two areas on the inside of the rocker panels and one spot under the sill plate. All can be repaired without repainting, but does not show and not really necessary to repair. New wiring is in place but needs to be connected in some cases and hung better in others. Front bumper is good driver quality, rear bumper is painted and needs rechromed and lower rocker chrome is marginal, but okay until replacements are found. The welting between the fenders and body was poorly installed. I would replace it.No spare tire. Rear axle seal on driver’s side may be seeping. The hard work has been completed on this car, and it just needs to have someone finish it. The reserve is reasonable and far below what it cost to get the car to this condition. This would be a great car for someone who wants to get a neat vintage car for reasonable price and yet still have the opportunity to put their own personal touches on it. Vehicle available for inspection by appointment. On Mar-24-14 at 09:41:21 PDT, seller added the following information: I just noticed that the sill rubber (below the doors) is missing, so wanted to update prospective purchasers on what I know. The few parts that are missing are readily available at a nominal cost.
