Vehicle Detail

1978 Turbo Regal Sport Coupe, 3.8 V6, automatic, 140,000 miles. Bearings and seals went out in turbo in '92 so I blocked the impeller from moving and capped the oil line and continued to drive unboosted. Engine got weak, probaly lost compression, didn't smoke. Heater core leaked so I by-passed it. A/C took a pound of R-12 twice a season. A-frame bushings need replacing (new ones in trunk). In '98 or '99, I pulled it into the garage and left it. Cute, but has dent in left rear quarter panel and rear bumper. No holes, only light rust in a couple places, bought it in Arizona in '83 and it's remained here, probably has always been here. This classic would make a great project car for restoration, hot rod, lowrider or just making the nessary repairs for a daily driver. When the turbo went out, I purchased another Turbo, manifolds and pipes from a crashed regal but it needs rebuilding too, thought I would do it for practice so I would have a spare if I screwed up, it will also go with the car. Relisting this one, had a lot of questions about the engine if it turned or was it froze. Since it didn't sell I borrowed a battery to see if it would turn and for fun, I filled the carb bowl with fuel, and to my surprise, it started up with only half a turn of the engine. Found out it was the fuel pump all along so I've replaced the fuel pump and it starts with just the lightest touch of the key but the fuel gauge doesn't work now, Engine runs very strong even though there is no turbo boost so the rear barrels of the quadrojet won't open and the fuel is 13 years old. Tranny shifts solidly but I blew out a rear tire while driving it around. Needs battery, fuel level sending unit, a-frame bushings installed, heater core replaced, A/C converted to R134 and 2 rear tires (front ones replaced just before parked) and it would be a great daily driver. Local pick up only.
