Read the Vehicle Description and Ask Questions. I spend a lot of time creating my listings, and I make every effort to thoroughly, accurately and fairly describe the vehicles I offer. If you have a specific question or concern, or if I missed something, please feel free to ask. Please keep in mind that I sell pre-owned vehicles. As with any pre-owned vehicle, minor cosmetic flaws may be visible under close inspection.1.2. Inspect the Vehicle. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle personally or through an inspection service prior to bidding. If you would like to inspect the vehicle, please call to make arrangements. 1.3. Be Aware That Vehicles Are Offered As Is/No Warranty Unless Stated. Unless otherwise stated in the vehicle description, the vehicle is being sold “as-is”, with no warranty. I try to accurately and fairly describe any known mechanical or cosmetic issues. However, as with any vehicle, mechanical or other failures may occur from time to time, and I cannot represent or warranty that they will not. You are responsible for any repairs made after the sale. 1.4. Mileage May Vary Slightly. I indicate the mileage of each vehicle at the time of listing. Please note that actual mileage may be slightly higher at the time of the end of the auction and/or delivery as the vehicle may be driven while the auction is underway. 2. Bidding on the Vehicle2.1. Please keep in mind a few requirements and courtesies. Please intend to, and be ready & able to (financially and otherwise), complete the purchase of the vehicle within the timeframes set out herein. Participating without the intention to complete the transaction is unfair to me the seller and to other bidders who may want the vehicle. It also wastes a lot of time and money. I may obtain the registered information of users participating in my auctions, and may filter or cancel any bids at my discretion.2.2. End An Auction Early. "Buy it now" auctions may end at any time if the buy it now feature is exercised or a "best offer" is accepted. I seldom end my auctions early. However, I reserve the right to end any auction without notice at any time for any reason in my sole discretion. 3. Completing the Transaction3.1. Contact Me. If you are the winning bidder, congratulations! You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements for the completion of the transaction. Many of my auctions end well after normal business hours, so sending me a message through eBay is generally the best way. 3.2. Pay a Deposit. You must also pay a $500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours after the end of the auction to secure the vehicle.3.3. Pay the Balance Due. You must pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes – please see 3.5, below) within 3 days after the end of the auction. Failure to pay the remaining balance within the stipulated time will cancel the transaction and deposit paid is forfeited. 3.4. Payment Methods. I accept wire transfers, cashier's checks, and cash in person (under $10,000 only). I accept PayPal for the payment of deposits only. All funds must be in US dollars.3.5. Fees and Taxes.3.5.1. Dealer Fee. I charge a $100 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions. This includes winning bids, buy it now prices, and best offers accepted. No exceptions will be made.3.5.2. Sales Tax.3.5.2.1. Georgia Buyers. I am required to GA Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) which is currently set at 6.5% of the fair market value of the car based on the year , make and model as determined by the GA DOR. Please visit http://onlinemvd.dor.ga.gov/Tap/Option1.aspx#message for more information. 3.5.2.2. Out-of-State Buyers. Out of state buyers are not required to pay GA taxes. You will be responsible for paying your state's sales tax directly. 3.5.3. Tag & Title.3.5.3.1. Georgia Buyers. I am required by law to handle your title work. Title work cannot be done in GA without payment of TAVT as specified above. Therefore, GA buyers will not be handed the title as was previously the practice. I will handle all the title work and the GA DMV will mail you a title in your name. You will be provided with a GA temporary registration valid for 30 days while the title work is being done.3.5.3.2. Out-of-State Buyers. I will provide you with the vehicle's title if available at the time of sale. Most vehicles I sell have the title ready at the time of sale. In some cases, the title may be in transit or not ready. You are however guaranteed a clean and clear title within 21days of the sale. You will be responsible for handling the tag and title work in your state.3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially. 3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. However, if you fail to (i) make contact with me, (ii) pay the deposit, (iii) provide me with required signatures/documents, or (iv) pay the remaining balance (including applicable fees, taxes, and charges), within the timeframes set forth herein, I reserve the right to keep your deposit and re-list the vehicle or otherwise sell it as I see fit, without notice, at my sole discretion. I also reserve the right to report the issue to eBay as I deem fit. 4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle4.1. Shipping. It is frequently less expensive to have a vehicle shipped to your location than it is to fly in and drive it back, and certainly more hassle-free. I can assist you in finding a shipper and can get very competitive shipping quotes. You pay the shipper directly and are responsible for delivery arrangements. I assume no responsibility for damage to the vehicle incurred after it leaves my premises. Your vehicle will be available to ship out once full payment is received and has cleared; I send out titles once payment has cleared and all other paperwork requirements of the transaction are completed. Please note: Buyers and/or their shippers van take delivery of vehicles on FRI, SAT & SUN only except by prior arrangement. 4.2. Pick Up. I am located in Lawrenceville GA which is approximately 45 miles NE of the Atlanta airport. Buyers flying in can rent a car at the airport and drop it off in Lawrenceville GA. (Hertz, Avis & Budget). Most of the questions I get have already been answered within the following description.
I have adopted the NAAA standard for assessing used cars. Each car is graded accordingly.
I have for sale here a 1998 BMW 540i. This car has close to 250k miles on it, however it drives well for a car with that mileage.
I would give this car GRADE 3 per the standards described below.
Specifically with respect to this vehicle:
Current Mileage: 249k miles.
Engine:
· Engine is in good mechanical condition
- Starts first time and idles smoothly
- Accelerates well in all gears
Transmission:
· Auto transmission engages promptly and shifts through all gears smoothly
Exterior:
· Average exterior
· Clear coat paint peel on the right side of the car
· Paint on rear bumper is dull
· Please look at the pictures in detail
Interior
· Clean Interior
· Driver’s seat leather shows slight wear.
· All other seats are in good condition
· Carpets are clean with no rips or tears.
· Has custom made BMW 540i floor mats
· Car has been cleaned but not detailed
· Please look at the pictures in detail
Tires
- 2 Capitol tires up front with 50% tread.
- 2 Uniroyal tires on the rear with 60% tread
- 17” sports alloy wheels are in decent condition
Suspension
- Noted some vibration/shimmy from front suspension at about 40-50 mph. I researched this (google) and I suspect the car needs new front thrust arm bushings.
Electrical Components tested Ok:
Power windows,Power locks,Radio,Power seats,Horn,Interior lights,Head lights & tail lights,Air conditioner,Heater,Cruise Control,Sun Roof
The car has 1 non remote key and the owner’s manuals are missing.
Summary:
I have tried to describe the car as best as I can. Please remember that this is a 1998 vehicle with 250k miles on it. It is not a new car and it has not been reconditioned to meet any specified standard.
The NAAA-Recommended VEHICLE CONDITION GRADING SCALE
Grade 5 – The vehicle is in excellent condition, with only minor defects in panel surfaces which do not require conventional
body or paint work. Limited high quality repairs may have been performed. There are no missing, broken, or damaged parts and
no visible glass damage. The vehicle’s frame/structure has not been repaired or altered and is expected to measure to published
specifications. The interior has no cuts, tears, or burns, does not show signs of wear and has no noticeable offensive odor. The
vehicle is mechanically sound and all accessories are operable. All fluids are full and clean. Tires match by brand, size and style,
and are in near new condition.
Grade 4 – The vehicle is better than average with only minor chips or scratches in panel surfaces which may require minor
conventional body and paint work or paintless dent repair. The vehicle may have sustained cosmetic or light collision damage
and received high quality repairs. The vehicle’s frame/structure has not been repaired or altered, and is expected to measure to
published specifications. A minor missing or broken part may require replacement. The interior is clean, shows minimal wear
and has no noticeable offensive odors. There is no visible glass damage beyond minor pitting of the windshield. The vehicle is
mechanically sound and all accessories are operable. Fluids may require service. Tires match by brand, size and style and are
in good condition.
Grade 3 – The vehicle has normal wear and tear (for example, parking lot dings, small scratches, chips and/or minor broken
parts). It may require minor conventional body and paint work or replacement of parts. The vehicle may have sustained cosmetic
or light collision damage and been repaired to collision industry standards, but its frame/structure has not been repaired or
altered and is expected to measure to published specifications. The interior shows signs of normal wear and usage, requiring
repair or replacement of parts. The windshield may be damaged. The vehicle is mechanically sound but may require maintenance or minor repair of accessories. The fluids may be low or require replacement. Tires match in size and style and are average or better.
Grade 2 – The vehicle shows signs of excessive wear and tear. The body may have dents, scratches, and body panels that
require replacement. Parts may be broken and missing. The interior may show signs of excess wear with burns, cuts or tears,
and non-removable stains. The vehicle may have multiple prior repairs performed at substandard levels or unrepaired collision
damage. The frame/structure may be damaged, repaired or altered and may not measure to published specifications. The vehicle may have mechanical defects that prohibit it from operating properly. Repairs can be made, but the engine and/or transmission may be in poor condition. Operability of accessories is questionable. Tires may be worn or mismatched.
Grade 1 – The vehicle shows signs of severe abuse or may have sustained major collision damage. It may be cost prohibitive to
extensively recondition this vehicle by automotive industry standards. The frame/structure may be damaged, repaired or altered
and may not measure to published specifications. The vehicle may have missing or disconnected mechanical parts. Although
operable, the vehicle is near the end of its useful life. Operability of accessories is doubtful.
Grade 0 – The vehicle is inoperative. Mechanical and body parts may be disconnected, damaged or missing. The vehicle’s
condition renders it suitable for dismantling or scrap.
Note: Frame/flood damaged/un-repairable hail damaged vehicles will not exceed a grade value of 3.
