Vehicle Detail

1954 Austin Healey 100 that has been retrofitted with a Chevrolet 283 V8 equipped with a 097 Duntov Camshaft and a 3 speed with overdrive. This is a great little car, but she still needs a little TLC to be completely road worthy. She runs and drives, but the front suspension is shot and needs new springs, the shocks rebuilt ,and one new lower a arm mount on the drivers rear lower side. Run Video and Walk around of car. Please excuse the messy garage! I had just installed the new/rebuilt distributor and msd coil, so the coil is only resting on the side of the intake in the video. http://youtu.be/uVP48RyMv6g Paint and Body: The original color was black with black interior, or so i believe...all evidence points this direction. The current paint scheme is silver blue. The paint is ok, but looks like lacquer and looks to have been done in someones garage, not by a professional. The body is overall solid, but it appears that someone did repair the rockers, outer sills, and lower rear quarters right behind the doors. The chassis looks solid, but i think it could use a rear trunk pan. There are some minor rust holes in the lower foot box on the driver side and in the inner rear wheel well areas in the front, but not in the back or in the quarters. Suspension and brakes: The suspension and the brakes need to be reconditioned. The car currently drives and stops, but the brakes are a bit spongy and the suspension in the front is really shot...springs have spacers and shocks are worn out. The driver's rear lower control arm mount needs to be replaced. It appears to have cracked and someone did a poor job of repairing it. Interior: All interior is in good condition. Convertible top is in good condition, but is a bit tight and rear window shows some scratches. Also comes with a white tonneau cover. Side windows are included, but the plexi glass is in poor condition. Windshield is cracked on passenger side. Engine: 283 V8 Chevrolet engine with 097 Duntov Camshaft. I just replaced the 70's electronic igntion system with a distributor (rebuilt and set up by Lars Grimsrud, the best in rebuilding chevrolet performance distributors) and a new MSD blaster coil. The engine runs strong without blowing smoke. The fitment is tight and one side has a custom built header, which needs to be replaced. I am including a brand new set of shorty tight tuck headers, but you will need to install them. Transmission and rear end: The transmission is a 3 speed with overdrive out of a 57 Chevrolet Bel air. According to the previous owner, this set up has been "beefed up". The differential is original, but also has apparently been "beefed up". I cannot confirm or deny this. All i know is it shifts well and the rear end does not make any noise. This is a great car overall and really just needs new suspension and a brake job to be a great driver. The starter needs to be adjusted as well, but other than that, if you want a solid, fun car with minimal investment, this is the one!
