Vehicle Detail
Hi, Up for sale is my 2002 Honda insight. It has a manual transmission and 186,548 miles. Please read this listing carefully as I cannot offer any warranty after the auction is over. I'm selling the car to pay bills and won't be able to offer any refund at all since I will be spending the money immediately. Please feel free to contact me any time by email and I will do my best to get back to you within a few hours, and can often respond within a very short time. The good: - The body is in OK shape with the exceptions listed below. The paint is decent and has normal blemishes for age and mileage. - I have gotten as high as 75 MPG average and went almost 900 miles on a single tank of gas with mostly highway driving. - There is an aftermarket cruise control installed. It works OK, but isn't the best one on the market. - I have owned the car for about a year and a half with no major problems other than normal maintenance repairs. - The previous owner said the IMA was changed before I got the car and has performed well while I owned it. The receipts were in the car, I will look to see if I still have them. - I had new tires and brakes installed on Mar 30 this year. The bad: - The day after I had the new tires and brakes installed, my average MPG dropped from about 64 MPG to nearly 50 MPG. I had the brake shop investigate their installation and they couldn't find anything wrong. You may need to have a Honda dealer check it out and see why that happened, I wanted to do that but couldn't afford it. - I recently noticed a slight grind going into 2nd and 3rd gears if the RPMs aren't matched up enough, meaning you might need a new clutch before too long, which shouldn't be a big deal if you know a little about manual transmissions. It drives just fine for now as long as you are careful with shifting. - The car was in a couple minor accidents as you can see in the photos. - The front hood has some crinkling from a deer hit. It drives OK, but the PA inspection wouldn't pass until I fixed it. The insurance adjuster said it would be $800 to repair the hood, but my deductible is $1000 and I couldn't afford the repair. Also from the deer hit, there are some metal and plastic plates on the underside of the car that were torn and dislodged. As it sits, the metal part vibrates somewhat and can be a little annoying. I had it taped and the noise went away, but had to remove the tape for the insurance adjustor. You can redo the tape, or I suggest a trip to the junk yard and replace the parts, it shouldn't be a bid deal at all. I just can't do the repairs right now. - The rear bumper cover was dislodged when I was rear ended and should be OK if you want to pull it and reinstall the cover. I don't know much about auto body, so I can't give you any more information other than the problem appears to be very minor and cosmetic only. I tried to get the photos to accurately show the damage, but it is difficult to get the right angle for the perfect photo. The ugly: - The car is a bit dirty inside. I suffered a concussion and nerve damage from the rear end accident and was not able to properly clean the car. It could use a bit of TLC in that area, as well as a good wax job. - The headlights have a little bit of that yellowing to them. I got a kit to clean them but could not get the time to get it done. - There is a slight crack in the molding at the passenger entrance on the inside of the vehicle. - The wheels have some cosmetic pitting on them. I tried to get the worst of it in the photo. The other stuff: - The vehicle is located 30 miles NW of Pittsburgh PA. Let me know if you want to take a look at it in person. - I had the vehicle sitting since I got laid off in August, so there is no inspection or insurance on the car. If you want to come by and look at it, we will only be able to take it up and down the block very briefly. - I tried my best to describe everything accurately and honestly. Please forgive me if I missed something. Email me if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer them quicly. Please note that you are buying this car as-is, but I was driving this car every day with no problems, so I don't think you will have any problems driving it home to wherever you are, but I suggest having a good insurance policy with roadside assistance, just in case. - If you want to come here and drive the car back, I will gladly pick you up at the Pittsburgh international airport (PIT) 24/7 and bring you here, or to a hotel if you want to stay and drive back the next morning. I will do my best to accommodate your trip in any way I can. - Please email me if you want more pictures. I have a few more that I can send you. - I am also reserving the right to end the auction early if I get a reasonable offer locally. - Also note my 100% positive FB rating. I'll do my best to make the transaction go as smoothly as possible. Thanks for your interest
