Vehicle Detail

***I have sold THOUSANDS of quality used GM drivetrain parts on Ebay. See my ME page for MY mechanical qualifications.*** I am the second owner and have had this truck for 12 years and it has always been dependable. SEE BELOW - MANY MANY MANY NEW PARTS!Runs and drives 100%.MANY NEW PARTS on this RARE Fuel Injected 1987 GMC V2500 3/4 Ton 4x4. 1987 was the ONLY year these "1973-87" Chevy/GMC trucks had fuel injection. It made them A LOT simpler under the hood. It made them a lot more reliable too - you turn the key and it starts. Period. No matter how hot or cold outside. Put any engine scanner on it and you can read the engine parameters in REAL TIME as it runs.8600 Lbs. GVW.I have COMPLETE maintenance records from the day I bought it.20,000 miles on rebuilt engine. 350 small block chevy. Fuel Injected TBI (Throttle Body Injection). Runs strong. Very good low end torque - that is what they are set up for. The engine came from a 1995 GMC Yukon (same as a Tahoe) that was hit in the back. It has more power than the stock 180HP 1987 engine (slightly higher compression ratio, etc, maybe even roller lifters - about 220HP). Peak torque around 2400RPM. At 65 MPH in 4th gear the engine tachs about 2360 RPM. It was originally a Park Ranger truck. I bought the truck from a Pennsylvania state used vehicle auction in June 2001 with 130K and I put another 78K mostly highway miles on it from 100+ mile trips. I never towed anything with the truck and the bed was usually loaded pretty light. I blew a head gasket in the original engine at 208K and put the current engine mentioned above in. It has always been a very RELIABLE truck. I don't beat up my equipment. Most of the dents and dings and torn floormats were like that when I bought it. I have only driven it about 2,000 miles since I put the low mileage engine in (11/12/08) but in that time I have NOT had to add one drop of antifreeze or oil (and it has NO antifreeze stop leak in it). It does NOT puff out blue smoke when you start it like probably 99% of the 1987-1995 GM TBI trucks out there do. When I put in the engine 2000 miles ago I also put in:NEW 12 Inch LUK clutch, pressure plate, and release bearing.NEW motor mountsNEW trans mount.NEW fan beltsNEW thermostatNEW starterNEW water pumpNEW spark plugs (single platinum)NEW spark plug wiresNEW distributor cap and rotorNEW exhaust manifold gasketsNEW exhaust donuts NEW valve cover gasketsNEW Oxygen SensorNEW Battery Cables - on older vehicles the cables MUST be replaced due to internal resistance building up which is a huge drain on starting and charging.NEW 94 AMP alternator (stock was 78 AMP)Also has: NEW brake master cylinder 11/8/13NEW gas tank 5/31/12. NEW gas tank straps at 180,000. NEW right inner fender 6/21/12.NEW ignition module at 190,000NEW rear brake shoes were put on at 206,839 milesNEW heater core at 206,289 milesNEW radiator at 186,473 milesNEW clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder at 175,000 milesNEW front brake rotors were put on at 175,537 miles.NEW fuel filter at 185,000NEW front axle ball joints at 164,000 milesNEW front axle shaft u joints at 164,000 milesNEW front differential seals at 164,000 milesNEW ignition coil at 171,184 milesNEW fuel pump at 187,847 miles.NEW Heavy duty 3 leaf springs in the front. Installed 11/5/05 192,580 Cost $400 MADE IN USA. WILL EASILY HANDLE A PLOW unlike 99.99% of these trucks out there with saggy 27+ year old standard factory 2 leaf springs.Good brake drums and rotors. Rotors are 12.5" and the drums are 13x2.5". It has the indestructible SM 465 "Granny" 4 speed manual transmission. Trans has a total of 120K miles on it. Runs as quiet as a transmission this size can run. "Granny" first gear is 6.55:1 non synchronized. Second gear is 3.58:1, third is 1.57:1, fourth is 1:1. Second through Fourth are used for normal driving. I only ever used granny gear off road. This transmission was used from 1/2 Ton Pick Ups all the way up through 2-1/2 TON Dump Trucks. It is BIG. GM doesn't even offer a 3/4 Ton pick up with a manual trans any more.Manual shift NP 208 part time transfer case. Very Good Tires with aggressive tread - pictured. 235 85 16 Load Range E POSI Front AND Rear axles. I installed the front Posi - it was never a factory option. Gears and axles are what I do for a living. Rear axle has a good factory Eaton Locker. THIS TRUCK WILL SPIN ALL 4 TIRES.Has all the original emissions equipment.Solid frame - SEE PICTURES. NO cracks at the steering box.Good cab mounts - SEE PICTURES.Good WARN aftermarket locking hubs.16x7 Aluminum WheelsFactory Front and Custom Rear Tow Hooks.Seat is like new (very rare to see)$60 Filtermag on the oil filter$60 performance throttle body spacerK&N air filter8 foot bedHas the RARE optional transfer case shield (skid plate).Regular cab.Parking brake works fine.Hydraulic clutch - the bellhousing alone sells for $250 these days.Has 3.42 gears which means it gets GOOD gas mileage. It only came with one gas tank for this reason. Even though it only has 3.42 gears, in 4 High in Granny Gear it will climb any hill you want to go up off road. NO noticeable play in the steering. At the time I put the new engine in it I OBVIOUSLY did not plan on ever selling this truck. I took my time and did it RIGHT. I have since moved to a much more crowded area in a city and I don't have room for it or much need for a 4 wheel drive. I bought a brand new truck in 2008 and I have only driven this 1987 GMC about 400 miles a year since. There isn't a lot of parking space in my new neighborhood and the metermaids are RABID about giving out parking tickets on street cleaning day every week - and every other time they possibly can.If you do your research you will learn that this is one of the most reliable vehicles GM ever produced. Everything on this truck works - which is more than I can say for my brand new GMC! It is not inspected. The truck has rust consistent with its age and this climate. Since it is a plain work truck it wasn't given a clearcoat on the paint when it was new which is why the paint is in rough condition and the body has rust on the outside of the roof and hood. Most of the rusty body panels just unbolt and can be replaced. The floor of the cab may need to be patched to pass inspection. The rocker panels have rust. The exhaust is all original. It doesn't have a spare tire holder - the State of PA thought it was OK to sell it to me like that though. The tires are all different but they feel very similar in diameter - very aggressive tread. It has the usual small leaks you can expect from a 27 year old truck. It does not have a trailer hitch. Located in Norristown, PA.No snowplow or plow parts are included.Odometer says 209,933 as of 11/18/13.!!!!These 1973-87 frames do NOT break in half like the 1988-1998 GM trucks!!!!!! The 1988-1998 trucks are the ones that break in half behind the cab. Those frames are "boxed" and hold in the moisture making then very weak. THIS truck has an OPEN frame - SEE PICTURES.I sell truck parts for a living. My asking price on this truck is FAR LESS than I can get for the truck parted out.Deadbeats, scammers, illiterate morons, and clueless punk kids using mommy's credit card will not be tolerated. Ebay is not a video game.If shiny paint is the ONLY thing you look at in a vehicle then go waste someone else's time. I will NOT be selling this trusty old warhorse for $500 so don't even ask.SERIOUS QUESTIONS ONLY. I don't care to read your sob story about how much you "want" and "appreciate" the work done to this truck but you only have $500 or will I trade it for a mobile home or can you pay with Lowes gift cards? (all are REAL questions I have received) I am NOT running a charity.
