Vehicle Detail
Here is a 1961 Chevy Corvair Rampside pickup. It has the proper truck engine and automatic transmission. I purchased this a few years ago to restore, but have not had the time that I thought I would. My wife is losing her job at the end of the year, and now I won’t have the money that I thought I would. So, rather than have it sit for however many more years, it is time to let it go. This truck is complete and very restorable. The engine will run without any unusual noises, but there is enough blow-by out of the breather to kill mosquitos for miles, so it will need pistons and rings at the least. The engine stalls as soon as it is put in gear, so it cannot be driven. The steering and brakes do work, and it rolls well. The tires are old, but hold air well. The windshield has no cracks, but is delaminated around the edges, as are the vent windows. The rear window and passenger window are good, but the driver’s window is broken. The body has rust in some of the typical areas (see pictures). The driver’s side lower body is rusted through, but is low enough that a Clark’s repair panel will work. The ramp has some rust at the bottom , but not bad. The doors also have some rust at the bottom, and the panel between the passenger door and ramp is rusted but repairable. There is some bondo in the driver’s side rear fender. The floor by both the doors is rusted through. On the positive side, there is no rust in the battery box area, and the wheel arches are solid with no rust. The bed has only some minor surface rust. The undercarriage is also in very good shape (my lift is occupied, but I will try to get pictures up soon). There is also an extra complete truck engine and automatic drivetrain in the back. I don’t know anything about its condition except that it is missing a valve cover. I also have a set of NOS interior door handles and NOS license plate light housings that I will offer to the winning bidder for a very good price. I have a clear California title for this truck. I encourage you to email me with any questions, and would be happy to take pictures of any area that you would like to see. Even better, if you are reasonably close the Milford, NJ area, let me know and we can set up a time for you to inspect it. I will not ship this truck, but will help your shipper as best I can. A $200 deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction’s end, and the balance due at pickup. Pickup is required within 7 days of auction end. I am willing to keep the truck here for up to 30 days if payment is made in full. On Nov-19-13 at 16:55:28 PST, seller added the following information: I made a couple oversights regarding the "completeness" of the truck. First, as can be seen in the pictures, the rubber strip for the top of the ramp is missing. Second, the jack and lug wrench in the truck are not the originals, although they are similar. The spare wheel and mounting hardware are original.
