Vehicle Detail
This started out as a 81' CX500. It has been extensively modified, and customized. The engine has 130 miles on it after complete tear down and rebuild. The mileage will be slightly higher than that when it sells because I am riding it daily. These CX's are really making a comeback. The unique engine layout is a real conversation piece. This bike get's a lot of attention wherever I ride it. The tuned custom built 2 into 1 reverse megaphone exhaust has a great sound! This bike is a lot lighter than the original, so it's pretty impressive for a 500. The list of mods are as follows: Frame was sandblasted and modified for monoshock, Epoxy primed and painted with Acrylic Urethane. Swingarm was blasted, modified for mono shock, epoxy primed and painted. Rear wheel was blasted, primed and painted. Front wheel was not blasted but was prepped, primed and painted. The differential, rear brake drum and related components were stripped, primed and painted. The custom lowered forks were prepped and epoxy coated. The fuel tank was blasted, epoxy primed and painted with multiple stages of enamel and clear coated. The inside of this tank HAS NOT been treated. There is some light rust. Not enough to affect the performance or reliability, but I feel it should be mentioned. I don't trust any of the tank liners on the market today unless they never come in contact with ethanol. But it's a real inconvenience to always have to find a station that sells ethanol free gas! The wiring harness has been extensively reworked but utilizes all of the original plugs for easy part replacement. The custom battery box is located under the rear of the engine and holds the starter solenoid. The gauges are new and are the correct ratio for the mph and rpm's. The headlight is the original housing that was stripped and epoxy coated. It also has a new H4 lamp. The blinkers and tail light are new aftermarket. The switch housings are from a CBR 900. The master cylinder is new aftermarket. This engine was completely tore down and rebuilt, it has new mains and rod bearings. All the seals except the cam and driveshaft were replaced. The ignition has been converted to the newer style. I'm sure that I've forgotten some details so don't hesitate to ask any questions. I have built and raced all kinds of CX powered bikes, and this version is definitely one of my favorites. It's very basic and minimalist, and a real blast to ride! I will upload a video of a similar CX that I built previously. I'll try to get an updated video this week. I will also get some more pics before the end of the listing. You can see some of my other previous builds if you google " Ludwigsen Bobber", " Daniel Ludwigsen's Wraith inspired Buell Bobber", "Racing a CX650 Turbo" , and "Ludwigsen Homebuilt Wraith". Thanks for looking, and Good Luck!
