North Shore Autosport Vehicle Overview Offered is a 1970 Pontiac GTO coupe that is a real 242 vin code GTO with a 428 engine - 4 speed trans, HD clutch, Posi-trac, power steering, and dual exhaust. This GTO has an active Ram Air hood, dual snorkel air cleaner, and the Endura front bumper. It is painted the original Cardinal Red, with black comfort weave interior. This is a non-matching number car, but the 428 was available as a Service Replacement engine in 1969 and 1970. The block number will verify that it is a 69-70 engine. (the 428 was made available to GTO owners to compete with the Ford 428 Cobra Jet cars) The 428 motor has an outstanding 472 ft/lbs of torque, and is capable of moving a car quickly, and the 4 speed adds to that acceleration even more. This GTO is a monster on the street, but also a great cruiser. It has had a nice restoration and is ready to show or just enjoy cruising. This GTO was torn down to bare bones. It was stripped down to metal, including the jambs, and underneath the hood and trunk. What few repairs that were needed to the body was done correctly. Then the car was primed, and the process of blocking the car started. After blocking was complete, the body was sealed, then 4 coats of base coat was applied. Then the body was sanded again, and another coat of base was applied, then 3 coats of high solids clear. We let the clear cure, then wet sanded another time, and 3 more coats of clear was applied. The paint looks wet and the shine is "WOW". The interior was gutted, and has received all new upholstery, front door panels, inside rear quarter panels, and headliner. The floor board was covered in Duratex sound and heat insulation before the carpet was installed. The front end was rebuilt, and the car has received new brakes, brake hoses, wheel cylinders, shocks, and u-joints. The under carriage was coated with bed liner to preserve the structure for years to come. Then the car was detailed, everything was painted or powder coated to make this GTO look great. Every attempt was made to retain the originality of the car. Most parts were rebuilt, repaired, or replaced with OEM style parts. This car has looks, performance and comfort.
