Vehicle Detail
I am re-listing this bike at a lower price as it did not sell. Up for sale is a fairly original 1983 Honda 900 Super Sport. Non-original is the "bmw" type bikini fairing, the bright red respray, the newly installed chrome superbike handlebars and the new individual air cleaners in lieu of the stock airbox (which will come with the bike) . Being over thirty years old, there is some surface rust on the headers, etc, but the frame is straight and there are no broken cooling fins. This was Honda's hot bike at the time and it comes with a 95hp engine, oil cooler and resevoir shocks. I bought this bike earlier in the year with the intention of doing a light clean-up, adding a few exsessories, and winding up with a reliable vintage sport bike for an occassional ride. When I got the bike, it was a very strong runner, with absolutely everything in working order right down to the turn signals. The battery was fresh and the bike started up as if new. I was only able to test ride it before buying, and due to a dry rotted tire, I only took it around the neighborhood a couple of times. I have to state here I have very little mechanical ability and here is where I got in over my head: somewhere in the process of switching handlebars or removing the original airbox, I must have yanked out a wire or something and the bike will no longer start. Duh! The lights and horn no longer work either. Electrical stuff is black magic to me, though knowing it ran well, I suspect it is something minor. Truth be told, I am sixty five years old and my poor eyesight and bad back are telling me to retire after forty five years of riding; that and the finances of getting a real mechanic involved. As I said, I could be told anything and I would not know if i was being taken or not. There are some extras that would come with the bike: A new rear tire A used but not dry rotted front tire A pair on new cafe style bar end mirrors Two new oil filters A four hundred page Clymer service manual A cheap Multimeter for tracing the electrics (new, but i'm too dumb to understand it). A pair of wheels from a Kawasaki road bike that can probably be sold after the good used tire mentioned above is removed. The photos will show all these extras. I suppose you can read between the lines here and guess I am very annoyed at myself for taking something that worked and through my mechanical genius making it into something that does'nt! The happiest outcome for me would be for the buyer to discover some minor loose connection, and wind up with the strong runner I know it can be. My loss your gain. You can see my sales history is 100% favorable and I pride myself on being upfront and honest. Write with any questions or concerns, and happy bidding! Jack
