Vehicle Detail

1950 Studebaker Champion Business Coupe. Rare! Restored. SEE VIDEO. 1950 Studebaker Champion Deluxe 3 Passenger Business Coupe The Raymond Loewy/Virgil Exner designed "Bullet Nose" Studebaker was all-new in 1950. The unique styling was unlike anything else on the road. Of all of the Studebaker models produced that year, the rarest was the Model 9G-Q2 Champion Deluxe 3 Passenger Business Coupe. Just 849 were made. With an ultra-spacious trunk offering nearly 6 feet of cargo space, most of these coupes saw heavy use by salesmen of everything from vacuum cleaners to encyclopedias. Thus, few have survived today. This particular car (body # 660) spent most of its life in Gering, Nebraska. It was always maintained and pampered by its two owners, the second of whom was a member of the Studebaker Club. He had the car re-painted in its original Shenandoah Green color, trim re-chromed and interior re-upholstered. Shortly after finishing, it was purchased by the current (3rd) owner in 2005, who drove the car the 1,260 miles from Gering, Nebraska to his home in Portland, Oregon without incident. The current owner is a collector of unique automobiles and proceeded to mechanically restore the Studebaker to a high level. The original engine and drivetrain were completely rebuilt. An Offenhauser intake manifold and dual Weber carburetors were added, along with dual exhaust for increased performance. Other than those changes, the engine is stock. Dual exhaust with glasspack mufflers were added, giving a deep, throaty sound when wanted. All gauges were rebuilt to show quality, and all operate and register accurately. The original radio, spotlight and "Climatizer" heater were also rebuilt. The car is equipped with 3 speed manual transmission WITH OVERDRIVE and "No-Roll" Hill Holder. Receipts for the mechanical work done total over $11,000.00. Today, the car has been driven just 2,919 miles since the mechanical recommissioning. It is regularly maintained by a mechanic who also maintains the other cars in the collection. It drives beautifully and operates without fault. Please see photos and video, just taken this week, for a look at the current condition of this wonderfully rare Studebaker. It is likely one of the finest available today. It is a turn-key car that is ready to drive anywhere. A realistic reserve has been placed on the car, considering its rarity and quality. When have you seen another one? Please bid accordingly.
