Vehicle Detail
1976 AMC Pacer Patriot - ORIGINAL TIME CAPSULE! Low Miles. SEE VIDEO. Nice! 1976 AMC Pacer - Patriot Edition - LOW MILEAGE ORIGINAL! SEE VIDEO. The Pacer was promoted as the first "wide small car" with an overall length the same as a Volkswagen Rabbit, but as wide as a full-sized Cadillac Eldorado. Designed by the legendary Dick Teague, it was also the first car that was built around the driver and passenger compartment with plenty of room inside but cutting out all of the superfluous sheet metal outside to eliminate drag and increase aerodynamics. The large use of glass and high visibility earned it the moniker "The Flying Fishbowl" and during the 1970's, there was nothing else on the road like a Pacer, which their quirky advertising promoted. In many ways they were ahead of their time and the styling cues introduced by Teague in these cars later found their way to other manufacturers over the next 20 years. Of course, the Pacer has developed a cult following in the years since its heyday, becoming an icon of the groovy 1970's disco era, when Gerald Ford was president, the Bee Gees were on the radio and gas was at an all-time high of 65 cents a gallon(!) This 1976 Pacer is a true time-warp car. With just 2 owners from new, the 65,000 miles showing on the odometer are believed to be true and correct. Outside and inside are in remarkable original condition. NO RUST. Please see photos of the undercarriage and the interior and exterior. The seats show no wear, rips or tears. Beautiful carpeting. Dashboard is excellent with no cracks or wear. Instruments and gauges all work. Optional AIR CONDITIONING works and has just been serviced and recharged. Mechanically, the car is excellent, as you would expect with a low-mileage original. Runs well. No smoke or issues. Automatic transmission shifts well and this car moves. It was recently driven 50 miles on the freeway at speeds of 70 mph+ and it runs beautifully. All of the original 1776-1976 American Bicentennial "PATRIOT EDITION" decals are intact and in excellent condition for being 37 years old. The original paint, chrome and trim are all very good and the car shows well, as seen in the photos and video which were just taken. If you are looking for a great example of a first-generation Pacer in remarkably preserved condition, I would say there is none finer than this one. Would be a great retro driver or for funky times at your local cruise-in and car shows. Wherever you go, you'll draw plenty of attention and smiles. Offered at a realistic price, considering the rarity, low mileage and condition. When have you seen another one? WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE. Thanks for looking and GOOD LUCK!
