1979 HONDA GOLDWING GL1000 WITH MATCHING WINDJAMMER "SS" FAIRING, CUSTOM BUCKET SEAT, KURYAKYN ERGONOMIC GRIPS, AND ALMOST NEW DUNLOP TIRES. +++++NO RESERVE ++++ HIGH BIDDER WILL DEFINITELY WIN! RUNS GREAT, SHIFTS PERFECTLY, ALL ORIGINAL PAINT, NOTHING RE-PAINTED OR EVEN TOUCHED UP. CHROME FENDERS, REAR TURN STALKS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION. HARD TO FIND ONE OF THIS VINTAGE THIS GOOD. GOOD FOR A COLLECTOR OR JUST A GOOD OLDER TOURING BIKE. NOT TOP SHOW CONDITION BY ANY MEANS BUT IS A GOOD SHOW AND RIDER AS IS. WOULD REALLY BE GOOD SHOW WITH CHROME VALVE COVERS AND POLISHED CARB INTAKES, ETC. THIS BIKE WAS A REAL "STORAGE GARAGE FIND" I BOUGHT IT FROM A YOUNG MAN IN SODA SPRINGS, IDAHO, WHO FOUND IT IN THE STORAGE GARAGE OF A LADY HE MAINTAINED RENTAL PROPERTY FOR. HE HAD CARBS RE-DONE, NEW FORK SEALS, NEW TIRES, COMPLETE SERVICE, ETC ABOUT A YEAR AGO. HE PRETTY QUICKLY DECIDED IT WAS TOO BIG A BIKE FOR HIM BUT WAS RELUCTANT TO SELL IT AFTER HAVING PUT MORE INTO IT THAN OPENING BID HERE. HOWEVER, HE DID AND I BOUGHT IT. I HAD PLANNED TO KEEP IT BUT JUST HAVE TOO MANY BIKES AND PROJECTS PLUS I GO TO ARIZONA FOR THE WINTER AND DON'T WANT TO LEAVE IT STORED HERE FOR 6 MONTHS. REALLY HATE TO PART WITH IT AS KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND A FIRST MODEL GOLDWING THIS NICE. BUT, BETTER TO LET SOMEBODY ELSE ENJOY IT THAN HAVE IT SITTING HERE. THE GL1000 WAS THE FIRST MODEL GOLDWING AND CAME OUT IN 1975. IT WAS THE FIRST GENERATION OF THE BIKE THAT SET A WHOLE NEW BAR FOR QUIET SMOOTH TOURING. THE GOLDWING IS: +++SHAFT DRIVEN+++ +++HORIZONTAL OPPOSED ENGINE ( MUCH SMOOTHER THAN ANYTHING ELSE) +++WATER COOLED+++++ HONDA DID NOT EVEN MAKE AN INTEGRATED TOURING PACKAGE (FAIRING, TRUNK, SADDLEBAGS) FOR THE GOLDWING UNTIL 1980. THEY CONTINUED TO MAKE THE "NAKED" GOLDWING MODEL THROUGH 1984. THE STOCK SEATS THAT CAME ON THE GL1000'S WERE JUST A LITTLE BIT MORE COMFORTABLE THAN I IMAGINE SITTING ON A RAILROAD TIE WOULD BE. (DISTINCTLY RECALL THAT FROM MY FIRST WING - '75 # 9076 (WAS THE 9076TH GOLDWING MADE) THIS CUSTOM BUCKET SEAT IS AS COMFORTABLE AS MY GL1500 SEAT AND PRETTY DAMN GOOD LOOKING AS WELL. THE WINDSHIELD ON THE WINDJAMMER HAS THE ORIGINAL "POP-OUT" VENTS THAT BOTH STILL WORK. THE WINDSHIELD HAS A FEW "STAR" CRACKS AROUND SOME OF THE MOUNTING SCREWS AND A FEW SCRATCHES ON THE LOWER PART. FOUND REPLACEMENT ONES FOR LESS THAN $100 ON EBAY SO NOT TOO BAD IF YOU WANT A NEW ONE. PIN-STRIPING HAS A FEW SPOTS WHERE SEPARATING. TRIED TO SHOW THAT IN PHOTOS. ALSO, RIGHT SIDE FAKE TANK PANEL HAS A 3IN OR SO "STAIN" (FOR LACK OF BETTER TERM) PER PHOTO. MAYBE SOMEBODY SPILLED BRAKE FLUID ON IT?? ALSO, DON'T HAVE KEY FOR RIGHT SIDE HARD FAIRING POCKET LID. HAVE NO IDEA WHAT (IF ANYTHING) MIGHT BE IN THERE??? AND -- DRIVING LIGHTS DON'T WORK. HAVE MADE NO EFFORT TO FIX. BIKE ALSO HAS HAD A MANUAL COOLING FAN SWITCH AND A HEADLIGHT ON-OFF SWITCH INSTALLED. AND -- LAST BUT NOT LEAST, NEUTRAL LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON EVEN WHEN BIKE IS IN GEAR. VALVES HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED AND NEW SHIFT SHAFT SEAL (TRY SAYING THAT 3 TIMES IN RAPID SUCCESSION) WAS PUT IN. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A ++++NO RESERVE+++ AUCTION.
