Vehicle Detail
AS USUAL, THE EBAY ROBOT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THIS VIN - PLEASE NOTE TRUCK IS IN FACT A 1983 MODEL, but I had to indicate '1980' in order to add the actual VIN # to the ad. I ALSO HAVE MORE PICTURES and details available , please type in 'laughs and lashings' into a Google search and my blog will pop right up! Hello there, Land Rover enthusiasts/ aspiring owners: Thank you for viewing this ad for my 1983 Range Rover 4-door Classic. Please note that this truck is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time, so if you are serious about winning I suggest you Buy it Now! I do have some rules that I require that you follow if you want to bid on my truck, and they are these: Before I describe this Rover, please let me ask that you read the ENTIRE ad before asking questions, or bidding. I have some requirements for bidders, and by bidding on this vehicle it is understood that you agree to ALL the purchase terms described in this ad. Most important to me are the following terms: A) IF you have zero, or negative feedback as a buyer, please message me with contact information BEFORE placing a bid.. B) If you bid and win, you agree to pay a deposit on this truck as described in the body of this ad at the conclusion of auction, and the balance within 7 days of winning the auction, no exceptions. (unless you contact me first and we agree on another plan) C) By bidding on this vehicle, you agree to all the terms of sale described in this ad, and agree that you have read the entire ad. Please check my feedback and you should see that I am an honest seller, and do my best to describe these vehicles as accurately as possible. I value my feedback, and want every buyer to be satisfied! I bought this truck a while ago to be my personal 'Keeper' - It is my favorite color, is a factory manual transmission truck, has all the features of the early/ first generation of Range Rovers, runs like a top, and it absolutely rust free. The problem is... I have about 7 projects going right now and I am running out of room for trucks, and I am forced to thin the herd. I really do not want to sell this truck, I believe it would be the best of my bunch with paint and interior work - I even have the 200tdi or 300tdi and gearbox to make it a diesel rig and return 30MPG, but I realize it will not happen anytime soon. AS-IS, the truck starts and runs great. I was told there was a lot of work put into the engine, but other than a clean engine with no leaks no evidence to prove that other than it runs great and is the smoothest, quietest Rover V8 I have ever owned. Sidedrafts replaced with 4-barrel downdraft carburetor - The only non-original modification on the truck. Truck drives great, stops great and is reliable. The only thing not working is the A/C , which is hooked up but probably not charged with freon. While looking at the photos please note I have all the vents for the dash and AC. All seats in the truck now are original, but I do have a P38 manual seat set I was going to install, maybe, and I have included one picture of those seats to show how nicely they fit. Headliner is missing its rear board, so only half a headliner is present. The P38 leather seat set is available in my other auctions if you are interested in buying them. Same thing for the re-finished early-style Range Rover Rostyle wheels. Truck shows 64,000 miles, and I believe it to be original. Truck was parked for an extended time at its last residence in Nevada. As a result, the truck drives tight and feels great, but paint is faded, and the sun faded and ruined the material on the seats. Dash is still nice with no cracks. Truck has NO RUST. Mechanically everything is tight and transmission shifts good. A bit of play from the diffs if you step on and off of the accelerator quickly, pretty normal for these trucks. Vacuum 4x4 works as it should. Low and high range on transfer case works as it should. Very cool features of this truck are : Has its original wind-up (NOT POWER) windows - so no motors to ever go bad! Has upright steel grille, same look as the 1970 first-year truck. Has opening front quarter lights (Wing windows) Nice for a breeze if the AC is not working, and makes this truck stand out. 4-speed manual LT95 is the strongest of all Rover transmissions. Shifts great! Clutch strong. All seats are original and sun damaged, but fitted covers look nice enough for now. IF YOU ARE GOING TO RESTORE A RANGE ROVER, this is the model to spend your time restoring - When you are done you'll have something different than every other guy who has a 1995 soft-dash that he thinks is so special, and why spend your time fixing up a run of the mill 1990? This is the actual last year of Range Rover being a man's TRUCK without trying to be a rich-person's status symbol. Has rugged good looks, and check the prices of the early models (IF you can even find one for sale) - They sell for $10000-$20000 depending on condition. Iconic good looks and you can drive the truck every day. Worst things about the truck, is the paint and body. Almost every panel has a ding or scratch, and there is an outright dent on the passenger side front fender, and another on the tailgate. Roof rain gutter has a few dents. There is no rust anywhere though, and if you wanted to go crazy with a restoration you can get new panels easy enough. My plan would be to have the truck painted its original color and maybe paint the roof white for a nice retro-look. Tires are in excellent condition as are rims. Will drive now, anywhere. I do have a turbo-diesel engine kit for this truck available in my other auctions, too. Kit complete is 4500 , and the labor to install is another 4500 if the work was performed here in Portland. I do have a special Range-Rover VM 2.5tdi engine kit I just pulled out of my 1994 RangeRover LWB; runs great except for smoky upon start-up - It is available for $2500 for the engine and matching 5-speed transmission, and best of all it would drop right in this truck with no cutting or welding, it is a Range-Rover unit! I could put the kit in the back of this truck if you wanted to pick it all up here or have it shipped out to you. Truck is complete except for the missing rear half of the headliner. EVERYTHING else is here, and original, except for the carburetor. Let me know what else I can tell you, in short a great truck you can reliably use every day, that would benefit from a paint job and maybe some panel replacement if you want a show truck. I believe my price is very reasonable , if not an outright bargain, for this truck. My auctions do not usually ever make it to the end, with satisfied buyers (Please check my feedback!) , so I feel my prices are very realistic. If you are interested in this Land Rover, please bid or buy it now, or email/ message/ call with any questions you may have. Be sure to check my other auctions for more parts available for your Defender, Range Rover Classic, Series 2, 2A 3, or this truck. PAYMENT DETAILS : A $500 deposit is due by paypal at the end of the auction. I require the balance to be paid in full within 5 days of the end of the auction. This can be paid as check, cash-in-hand, bank transfer, deposit, etc. I will not accept paypal as payment for a vehicle, nor do I take credit cards over the phone, etc. I can store this truck for up to 30 days for you if you need time to come out and collect, or need time to arrange for collection.
