Collector Quality GL1000 for Sale by Randakk Look high and low but you will are not likely to find a better 1975 GL1000 than this excellent specimen. I should know - I’ve owned a bunch of these bikes and I’ve built a business focused on restoration resources for this model: www.randakks.com This bike is from my personal collection. I am certain I will regret letting this one go, but some lucky bidder will own this bike soon. How many times have you heard a collectible bike described as “museum quality.” In this case, that phrase is quite literally true. Read on! The ’75 Honda GL1000 is widely regarded as a milestone model. The first year GoldWing is routinely included in all thoughtful lists of the “Best Motorcycle Designs.” For example, the GL1000 was included in the prestigious Art of the Motorcycle exhibit and companion coffee table book that was curated by Ed Youngblood. This particular bike has a very interesting history. I acquired it via friend and noted GL1000 wizard "Pistol Pete" Boody. See: http://www.oldwings.com/ Pete did a masterful rejuvenation of an all-original, well-maintained bike before I took delivery in 2005. One example of his thoroughness: he installed a brand new OEM muffler as part of the comprehensive rejuvenation. If you’ve attempted to source a new GL1000 muffler lately, you probably know how scarce and pricey they are! Since I’ve owned the bike, I’ve used it for mainly for pleasant rides in good weather. It has also served as one of my principal show bikes and the guinea pig for lots of R&D here at Randakk's Cycle Shakk. For example, it was used extensively to film our GL1000 Carb Rebuild DVD (3+ hours). In fact, the carbs rebuilt to perfection in that video are the ones still on the bike, updated with the latest versions of our Master Carb Kit components through the years for quality assurance testing. This is a meticulously maintained, superb original condition bike. It is not a restored bike. The paint and chrome are outstanding given the age. It does have very slight patina of use for a bike manufactured in March, 1975 that is still ridden regularly ...with care by a notoriously knowledgeable enthusiast. Per the VIN data plate - this is GoldWing #4819. No antique bike is perfect, but this one is as correct as I know how to make it. Mechanically it is exceptional. Completely roadworthy. “Camouflaged” ignition improvements: Dyna coils, Dyna/S ignition, upgraded spark plug wires, NGK spark plug caps (resistors removed), NGK Iridium plugs. This was done while retaining OEM wire looms, spark plug abrasion covers, plug number labels, etc. and hiding the 12V feed to the Dyna/S. A casual observer or typical show judge would never spot these upgrades. This bike is just back to my garage from spending one year on display at the Motocylepedia Museum in Newburgh, NY as part of their very popular Kaizen Exhibit of significant vintage Japanese motorcycles. The bike was carefully “pickled” for that duty and “un-pickled” carefully when retrieved. By the way, I recommend everyone consider a visit to that outstanding museum ...worth a trip! Includes original keys, owners manual, spare master fuse holder, toolkit, correct radiator hose clamp protectors, and detachable kickstart lever with strap. Original locks all key to the original key. Vivid tail logo graphic. Correct turn signal flasher unit Reserve Lighting Unit fully functional. Many other small details that are often missing or incorrect on these bikes. As I write this, I just road this bike 20 miles yesterday ....wonderful ride! On Sep-17-13 at 09:50:07 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: The pictures show a minor distortion on the lower edge of the seat pan on the left side. That very minor issue was corrected after these pictures were taken. Thanks.
