I have for bid a 2000 Boxster. This car does have a history, but today is a solid and excellent conditioned vehicle, nicer than your average boxster. It has the 2.7 litre engine in it which is much less problematic than the earlier 2.5 litre car, and with only 92,000 miles on it and Mobile1 0w30 oil changes done as long as ive had the car and it will continue to run strong. Mileage will go up as its my daily driver. There are problems that have occurred in these 2.7 cars along with just about every Porsche motor up through the next generation vehicles, and that is IMS (intermediate shaft bearing) failure. According to most people they'd say its a very common problem, this is not true. This problem was not even common enough to cause Porsche to recall it. The problem is mostly found in cars that sit for long periods of time without being driven, cars that don't have the oil changed often enough, and cars that are driven as if its a prius. These cars are pure bred Porsche's they are made to be driven hard every now and then. In the end even in these cases most cars still do not get the ims failure and at 92,000 miles this car has stood its "test of time" so to speak. The car does say water damage on the title, but THIS IS NOT A FLOOD VEHICLE. The car at some point had rain enter the cockpit through funnels, which had holes, that are intended to guide the water to the wheel well. The rain made its way to the immobilizer which fried it. Every computer in the car was replaced which is a breath of fresh air because some of these cars have had slight electrical problems, so this is a problem that's been addressed. The history of this car says its been in two accidents and had frame damage. I've been over this car a hundred times. If there was any serious damage then who ever fixed it did a better job than most would have. It drives straight and true, this car was repaired to perfection. The car could use a new serpentine belt in the next couple of months but other than that all services have been done recently, oil changed, full brake job done 1 year ago and it all has a lot of meat on it still, filter replaced, 4 brand new tires put on a little under a month ago, the rear window was replaced but the vinyl should probably be polished out, it has defects from manufacturing.
