2001 Volvo S40 - Automatic Transmission - Ice Cold AC - 102,393 Miles This vehicle is being re-listed because the winning bidder was not entirely happy and opted not to take the car. NY residents - please understand your restrictions when bidding on this vehicle. Body is very clean - has the original paint job. With a good detailing and wax job this car would almost look like new. Interior has minor wear on the driver seat, but is otherwise in nice shape too. Tires are in fair to good condition and the same size, but are mismatched - the brakes feel fine. Car runs and drives the way it's supposed to. No smoking, noises, wobbling, misfire or slippage. It does have an oil leak. I think it's transmission oil, but I am not sure. It is not a serious leak and does not pool when running. In fact, I only notice the staining on the driveway when it sits overnight. I did not rack the car to see where it's coming from - car belonged to a friend of mine. It should pass a safety inspection (except for a headlight bulb). Bid with confidence and drive it home. But since the "Check Engine" light is on, (the computer read-out shows that a couple of different codes are present) it will not pass NY State inspection. The codes are most likely for the emmisions system. Runs and drives flawlessly, however, here in NY State an illuminated "Check Engine" light is automatic failure for NY State inspection. With my experience in this business, when one check engine light related problem is fixed, another could pop up putting us back to square one. This car is going to the higest bidder. No Reserve! No Buy it Now! Please Don't Ask! Drive it home - no guarantees or warranties. Because it won't pass NY State inspection ... New York residents are unable to bid or buy unless they are a registered car dealer, registering/re-titling the vehicle out of state or are using it for “Parts Only”. When a car is sold as “Parts Only’ or “Salvage” it must pass a NY State “Salvage Inspection”. This is done to keep rebuilt wrecks that are unsafe off the road – especially vehicles with frame damage or airbag deployment. My cars are rarely rebuildable wrecks and therefore will easily pass this strict inspection process when the problem that is advertised is corrected. There are about 10 to 15 NY State salvage inspection sites in NY State – 2 or 3 are on Long Island and there are a couple in NY City. Call me for further clarification. As a registered NY State dealer I am unable to sell a car that won’t pass inspection to a NY State resident. Anyone else can bid and buy.
