Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this freshly restored 1968 Chevrolet Impala Custom Coupe. It is ready to enjoy. We took this car in on trade as an unfinished project as it showed considerable promise. The frame, trunk pan and the body panels all were in good shape, especially the frame and trunk pan which were in remarkably good shape for the year. The only thing gone were the floor pans which we changed out with 20 gauge steel. This Impala features a 1969 WT block 350 V8 engine which runs very strong with no leaks or noises, a powerglide automatic transmission plus dual exhaust. The engine has been upgraded with an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 650 carb. The brakes lines are new as are the wheel cylinders and the master cylinder. It is also very dependable and fires right up so this is not one of those old temperamental type cars, but rather one that you can hop in and go. The body itself is more than respectable for a driver and the paint quality (Blue Metallic base coat clear coat) also is very respectable. Also has some nicely done pinstriping. The undercarriage also has been undercoated. Interior wise, the dash withstood the test of time with no cracks. It has new carpet and a new headliner. It came to us with late 70's Camaro buckets and the original back seat and we have black seat covers over them as they would need to be reupholstered but they are more than adequate for now. And given this is a '68 Impala with plenty of room, it would be easy to drop in some nice late model power buckets! All the chrome on the car is original and respectable. The front fender 350 marker bezels are new. The suspension and handling is good and what one would expect from a late 60's Chevy coupe with power steering. This is not a drag car but rather a nice afternoon cruiser although it does get up and go rather well, so it is not a dog. The tires have a good 60%+ treadlife remaining. All the gauges work as do the headlights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals plus the wipers. It's not perfect. We did not wire the original radio so not sure if that works. It does need a glove box and a new glove box lock plus misc weatherstripping although we did install new window felts. In summation, this is a nice turn key car that you can enjoy now. Feel free to call or text 219-613-6682 with any questions, to make an offer to buy it now or to see it in person. Title is clear and we can help arrange shipping as well. It is being sold as is where is of course with no warranty. Need restoration work for your old car?
