Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1957 Chevy extended cab 1 ton dually pickup. I have been working on and off on this truck for 17 years. The last three years hitting it hard every day to finish it up. I have at least a million hours in this truck and someone will be very lucky to buy it for less cash than I have in it. This truck would be a very versatile truck for a wide variety of people and should hold it's value for years to come because of that. It's a hot rod to cruise in, but not too radical to be a daily driver. It would be awesome to pull a vintage Airstream Trailer, or a Ski Boat. Even a Horse trailer. I would drive this truck anywhere without hesitation. I am very proud to say that It won the Trick Truck Corral pick sponsored by LMC Truck parts at the 2012 Fall Nationals, and the Bakersfield Body Shop sponsored pick at the Chuy's Riders n Rods car show june 1st. Starting out it is a 1955 Chevy Cab and registered as a 1955. My Brother Joe, (an awesome fabricator), did the initial extension of the cab. He cut the back of the cab off, bought two more doors and after a simple pie cut in the middle belt way, welded them in for the extension. That's about when he gave the truck to me and I took over the fabrication. A station wagon top was used to cover the roof. A lot of care was used to make the extension look like it could have come from the factory this way, especially around the side window areas. I had some sheet metal formed to fabricate the step boxes under the truck, and the underside is completely welded and sealed so no water can penetrate the body. The cowl vents were welded shut and smoothed as all body seams around the doors. The center console was fabricated to hold a stock 57 Chevy dash bezel which in turn holds a 8 inch subwoofer and amp, navigation unit, air and heater controls, head light switch, USB port and cigarette lighter for your phone charger. The front sheet metal is the 1957 part, as I modified 2 ton truck fenders to fit the pickup body. They are 3 inches wider than stock, as are the grill and front bumper. The hood was pancaked 1.5 inches and I fabricated a cowl induction scoop from the bullets off a 57 hood. I vented under the hood with 1969 Camaro Chrome hood vents. The Hood flips forward when it opens. The bed is a stock 1958 Chevy long bed. The wheel base was altered to the back like the newer duallys, and channelled over the frame 6 inches. The wide dually fenders are from a 1989 chevy dually and were cut to match the bed, bondo hair glues them on as well as being bolted on. The bed floor is all aluminum and would fetch a lot of cash at the recycler. The tailgate was smoothed of the chains and has hidden latches and cables to hold it for sitting on at tailgate parties. The frame is from a 1989 Chevy 1 ton dually extended cab. The wheel base was shortend 6 inches by relocating the spring perches. I installed drop spindles and cut the front coils by one.I reused the stock humongous fuel tank, and the spare tire apparatus, and heavy duty trailer hitch with 2 inch reciever. It is set up to ride nice and comfortable and drives nice. I would add air bags if hauling anything heavy. It was completely cleaned and painted with charcoal metallic synthetic enamel. The rear end is a dana 70HD and is completely rebuilt with 3:50 gears, seals and bearings so it cruises down the freeway at a normal rpm, but still has good gearing for pulling a trailer. The transmission is a Gills Transmission newly built 400 Turbo with all new internals as well as planetary gears and new torque converter. The engine is a Hugh Reynolds newly built 454 with 9:1 Hyperuretic pistons, moly rings, torker Comp Cams camshaft. and late model large oval port heads. New BF Goodrich Truck TA tires mounted on some fairly rare American Eagle alloy wheels. AFCO Aluminum cross flow radiator. Headlights are h4 halogens with a halo ring built in and look awesome at night when cruising. They are wired with ceramic plugs and dual 50 amp relays. All running lights have clear lenses with led bulbs. Other electronics are Dakota Digital VHX gauges, Jenson Navigation unit with DVD, CD,AM FM radio. (I don't have an antenea hooked up) . iphone jack, sub woofer and amp and separate amp for the rear Sony 6x9 and 6" front speakers. (Blue tooth compatible and hook up for a back up camera not installed) Vintage air conditioner and heater with the billit aluminum controls. Lokar Shifter. One piece windows are specialty power units switched by original style door handles. All new glass and rubber seals. Seats are upholstered by Star upholstery. I used the 1989 folding rear seat in the back and installed an Impala speaker and grill. Paint was sprayed at Jim Burke Ford with Dupont 2011 Corvette Silver. 1989 Chevy Tilt with billet Specialties steering wheel. I used an over head console from a Yukon, and it fit with little modification. There is so much into this build I am sure I am leaving something out. Ask Questions, Jim, 661-205-0199. If you want to come look at it It is located in Bakersfield Ca. Some of the pictures I down loaded are from earlier unfinished progress. The truck is completed now with carpet, upholstery, and sound system. We drove the truck to the Pismo and the Brothers truck & Car show . There was a crowd around it most of the day asking about all the different body mods that have been done to it. It really is the only truck like it anywhere. It's crunch time, I want to buy a house this summer so I need the cash. I have had some really good offers for cash plus trades which I am open too, but need the cash more than anything. So make me an offer. Thanks! Jim
