Vehicle Detail

1979 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE—RUNS STRONG with boxes of extra parts.-----Clear title. THIS IS A PROJECT CAR THAT IS COMPLETE OR COULD BE USED FOR THE PARTS The owner was a local car collector who passed away 5 months ago and the family put all his cars and motorcycles up for auction. I got this car June 22nd at the auction along with all the boxes of Triumph Spitfire parts. I was told this car sat in a garage for the last 3 years. It seems the car was in mid restoration that was never finished. The good stuff. The tonneau cover and the convertible boot cover are factory original and were in a box in the trunk. They are in near perfect condition and it appears they were never used. Marking stamp on them is GL. Bennet – Dec 1978 It also has what appears a brand new Light Brown convertible top that is already mounted on the frame. It was wrapped up in a blanket inside the pass compartment. I put some gas in the tank and put a battery in and the car fired right up and ran very well. The engine runs quiet, idles smooth and, revs quick. I did a compression check and is as follows. Cyl-1-140psi, Cyl-2-142psi, Cyl-3-139psi, Cyl-4-140psi. The engine seems very healthy. It has a Weber – 32/36 DGEV- 2 barrel carburetor and It has aftermarket headers, The tach worked, the fuel gauge worked. Alternator was charging. In the boxes that came with the car. Brake Calipers, Brake and Clutch master cylinders, factory intake manifold, extra steering wheel, 2 factory jacks,2 head rests, stock wheel covers, extra gauges, 2 factory bullet rear view mirrors, factory luggage rack, emission components. There is a mountain of service and owner’s manuals. There are tons of nuts and bolts and assorted passenger compartment components. Vehicle Numbers – on plate in door jamb. – FM97957-U---trim # C11 On panel in engine bay. ---93261 FM The Bad Stuff. The cars body a pretty straight but, it looks like the paint job on the car was done by an amateur. It’s flaking off in spots from bad prep and it needs some body work and it needs to be repainted. There is some rust thru in the rocker panels and the driver side floor. Patch panels could be TIG welded in easily. The seats are after market and are not mounted. The wheels and tires are not stock. I have not driven this car due to that the brakes and the clutch master cylinder needs rebuild from sitting so long. This car needs some TLC but could be brought back with some time put into it. What you see is what you get. The car is 34 years old and is SOLD – AS-IS No guarantees or warranties. You are more than welcome to personally inspect this car. It is located in Birchwood Wisconsin. 500.00 deposit due within 3 days. The rest in cash or cashier check. All funds must clear bank before car is taken. If you have any questions please give me a call at 715-354-7001. My name is Frank This car runs strong and body is sound, solid and worthy of restoration. On Jun-30-13 at 05:53:09 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE : THIS CAR IS FOR PICK UP ONLY....BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR PICK UP AND DELIVERY
