Vehicle Detail
Beautiful 1964 Corvair Monza Coupe. A great little car to run around in this summer! It has the basic engine, 2 carburetors, 110 HP, 4 speed manual transmission. Beautiful paint job, chrome is amazing, the previous owner must have spent a fortune on the paint and chrome. So why are we selling? Because we bought an even nicer 1963 Spider (turbo). This is relisted, first a scam bidder, then a man who thought 1964 Corvairs would have power brakes, then a problem with a loose wire. Please serious bidders only. This is a 60 year old car, in fine condition. The brakes work great, but not with one toe. I represent this car as accurate as possible. The car runs perfectly, shifts well, no known problems. Floors are solid (unusual for old Corvairs). No rust issues, no significant flaws. Engine compartment is not oily, very uncommon for a Corvair. The paint job is better than the pictures show. It is an incredible paint job, better than new, the only flaw being some bubbling on the little panel below the back bumper, you really have to look for it. The interior is excellent except the back panel below the rear window ( a little faded), and we have a brand new replacement for it. The headliner is a little faded, but not a big deal. We include new replacement seat belts because the stock ones are a bit stiff from age. There are some scratches on the bottom interior of the driver door, perhaps from a driver's foot. The rest of the interior is excellent, either very well kept or replaced, we can't tell. Radio appears to be original, but the trim is not painted to match. We are told they were often added by the dealer and the trim piece not painted. We replaced the carbs and did a complete complete tune up. New fan belt. Parts are all from Clark's Corvair, an excellent source of parts and tech advice on the Web. When we bought it, we had trouble with stalling, and found the problem was a dirty fuel filter. We fixed that and also removed the gas tank and made sure it was clean. We replaced the carburetors and had them set up by a local expert to be 100% sure and it really runs great. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Along with showroom paint, the chrome is very good to excellent, if you get within 12" you can see some tiny pitting on door handles, and that's about all the chrome flaws I can find! Ask questions, please. Come see and drive it if you're nearby. We're located 3 miles inland of the ocean in Wall Township, inland of Manasquan, NJ (half way between New York and Atlantic City. 2300 Hwy 34, in a factory. This is a privately owned car. If you fill the tank fully, the fill connection leaks a little under the car, so we never fill it more than 7/8ths. I guess the fill connection hose needs replacement. I should add that the car is really that nice. I have never seen a better body on a car this old, and the interior is pretty nice too. It runs great. I've tried to describe the car fully and if you are the high bidder and don't agree when you come to get the car, I will not hold you to the purchase and return the deposit. We have not penalized either previous "winners" See our score. you will be happy or no sale. Thanks for viewing! I have added a picture of the bubbling which is ONLY on the little panel under the back bumper. There is not a single bubble anywhere but on that one small panel. It is an easy fix, the painter must have forgotten to prep before painting.
