Vehicle Detail
I have owned this car for ten years. I got it from a friend of mine you stopped driving due to health reasons. He owned the car for five years prior to me. The car was repainted in driving 1999 with the fenders taken off and new rubber installed. Since I have owned it the car has only been driven in good weather. It was never driven in the rain and put away every year for the winter. Five years ago I asy to work onpulled the engine because of the push rod tubes leaking oil from the seals. the engine was sent to a local machine and checked over to make sure every thing was up to proper specs and any leaking seals and gaskets were replaced. As the engine was being put back together many items were replaced as needed. Items replaced include a new carb, fuel pump, fuel lines, and filter. Also the gas tank was repaired for a small leak and tumbled clean with solvent and media. Many of the engine tins that were bent were replaced with chromed brand new ones. A new clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing were put on before the engine was installed. Also a new starter and battery were installed. This is a fun easy car! It is fun and easy to drive! People wave to you as you drive by, and everyone has a story to tell about the time they stuffed ten people in one, or put a parked one up on someones lawn. It is easy to park and fits almost anywhere. Its easy on gas having a small engine. Its is easy to get replacement parts as they are available from many sources and still available from V/W dealers, and it is very easy to work on as there are many books and web sites out there dealing with the V/W. There are some small dings and scratches from driving and attending car shows, but nothing bad. There is some surface rust on the under carriage from being stored in an unheated garage. Look at the pictures and you will see that overall its in good condition. Don't let this one get away!
